Strange white powder on inside and outside of CO2 lines

Hello all! Been a long time since I posted anything. Have not really been active in the homebrew scene for a while, but getting ready to get back on the horse (or induction burner rather). While going through and reorganizing my brewery, I wanted to do an overhaul of my keezer. When I popped...

What brand BIAB bag do you use?

Made my own out of voile curtain fabric. Have tried a couple of different designs. All have worked, some better than others. Have never had any concerns wrt strength or ripping.

Easiest way to purge hops with CO2 using a Fermentasaurus

Seems like you could just vent the pressure, add the hops to the top and then replace the CO2 to the pressure you had before, or let it build again.

Easiest way to purge hops with CO2 using a Fermentasaurus

I recently purchased a Fermentasaurus. Have not even used it yet. I dont plan to use it for pressurized fermentation (yet) as I want to get used to using it first. From the looks of many videos, you would need some source of CO2 to purge the hop container if you go that route. I cant tell if...

Basement Brewery Build - Brewery 3.0

Like I said above, rough plumbing and electrical are done. Working on the drywall. I hemmed and hawed about what to cover the walls with. I ended up going with standard green board. I plan to do a couple coats of Kilz with a couple coats of standard latex paint. I dont plan to get that...

Show me your brew room computer setup!

I am building a dedicated brewing space and want to see what others have come up with for good ways to have a computer in the room. Do you run a laptop or tablet? Do you have a fancy 4 panel display megasystem? Is it fixed or mobile, standing or sitting? Looking for ideas. Thanks!

Basement Brewery Build - Brewery 3.0

So I got the soffit framed up and the side wall started. I will eventually have a door to the area, but for now am leaving it open. Built into the soffit will be a hood of sorts. More like a recess into the soffit with the blower mounted directly into it. I will line the interior of the...

    In need of newbie advice

Or, as an alternative, you could size the batch based on your gravity. That is, a high gravity beer may be fine in your pot at 4 gallons instead of 5. No magic in the 5 gallon batch and in my experience, 3 and 4 gallon batches taste every bit as good as 5 or 10 gallon.

    Brew Log

Not strictly what the OP was looking for, but I just keep everything in Brewsmith. If I do a recipe more than once I just cut and paste a copy of it. I keep all the recipes in chronological order.

Basement Brewery Build - Brewery 3.0

Okay, like many of the others that have been captured in the annuls of HBT, I wanted to post my build. The reasons are many, but mainly, to keep me on task (dont want to keep people waiting for posts) and because I have learned so much from so many that I want to be part of the pay it forward...

    Dedicated Chiller Plumbing?

I just took receipt of a spray (pre rinse) faucet and the Gridmann stainless 24"x24" sink. No pics here because I plan to start a brewery build thread. I am going to go pot filler faucet as well, except I am going to build one out of copper pipe and a swivel valve used for hose reels I...

Ss Brewtech 15 gallon Electric Kettle Conversion

If you do have 4 wire service as above, a 120V line with switch could be added to drive a pump right? It was go across the neutral and either line 1 or 2? I plan on making this exact controller once I make the switch from my induction burner.

    Stainless sink reviews

I ended up getting the Gridmann off of ebay for about $200 shipped. Its very similar to the one you have but has the lip all the way around. From what I can see so far its looks pretty good. I did see that the back is not exactly square to the face (less than 90 degrees) but I think I am...

Do I need a water filter?

Thanks Dcpcooks and Soccerdad. All great questions. Sounds like I need to do some reading on water in brewing. Any book recommendations (beyond the primer)?

    Dedicated Chiller Plumbing?

This is what I was thinking. Except I was going to run it more under the brew bench with a valve.

Do I need a water filter?

Have not used onein the past. We have generally okay water, but am starting to build a permanent brewery space (eBIAB) and want to fit a water filter if you think its needed (will I notice the difference). We drink RO water but dont use it for cooking. Beer is mostly water so I can see that...
