What temp is the chiller set to? How much yeast did you pitch? Did you make a starter for the yeast? How long has it been since you pitched the yeast?

Just brewed a ten gallon batch today. I use a hop spider and a hop stopper so very little except wort leaves the BK. I have the Duda Diesel B3-23A-30ST plate chiller and I was hard pressed to keep the wort at 60F going into the fermenters. My ground water temperature right now is around 50F...

Denny, you state to add Gypsum to the boil kettle to increase the sulfate to accentuate the hops. My water is very hard with 46 ppm of sulfate. Do you think that the gypsum is still needed here? Thanks. Mike

I followed these directions and the parts list was very good. I made a slight change at the end and put the face of the controller on the large side of the box instead of the narrow side. It fits barely but without the wiring protector at the back of the controller. No biggie since the box is...

That's the setup I have with a pump. I love the plate chiller. I bought mine through brewhardware and got my camlocks, thermometer, and other fittings from bobbym. Good luck. :)

You might want to change out your hoses or anything plastic that touches the wort. Also look for air flow around your fermenter. There could be something putting bacteria/strange yeast into your fermenter.:confused:

I have the same plate chiller here in SW Ohio and have no trouble getting to lager temps. We typically do 10 gallon batches and can chill all 10 gallons in less than 10 minutes to lager temps. Great device. Cleanup slightly longer than with the immersion chiller I went from but I am in love...

Thanks for the parts list. Great job. How is your crush? I have a crankenstein three roller mill and sometimes I have to double-crush and my usual efficiency is around 70-75%. My calculated mill rpm is ~215.:cross:

Can you give any particulars about motor size, rpm, what size sheaves, final rpm of the mill? Great looking build. What are the overall dimensions?
