New way to control Pellet Hop gunk!

Thanks for the feedback on the Keg Dry Hopper. I bought one but haven't used it yet. The glass carboy dry hopper I have used, but with pellet hops. It did a pretty good job, as we have a great hop aroma and taste in the Rye IPA that we brewed about a month ago.

Historical Beer: Kentucky Common "Kiss Yer Cousin" Rye Kentucky Common Ale

Well, we tasted this one again. Still like it but the family consensus is that the American Ale yeast gives a little bit more tang that made this beer a favorite right off the bat.:rockin:

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

The relays are rated for 15 amps at 110V. I have been using one for a month now with no problem on my Kenmore fridge that I use as a fermenting chamber.

How Close Am I to AG? New Equipment.

Yeah, a second propane tank takes one item of stress out of the brew day. I usually get 3 or 4 brews out of a 20 gallon propane tank and I do 11 gallon batches. Depends on the temperature of the water you're heating and whether you are brewing in a windy area. Good luck.

Going to have to automate a bit...

Sounds good. Nothing like drinking beer while brewing beer. Good luck w/ the remaining automation.:mug:

    Temperature probe inside bucket... How?

I wouldn't use copper in fermenting beer. I read somewhere in the forum that copper is good in mash tuns and brew kettles but should be kept away from fermenting beer due to some unfriendly compounds being absorbed in the beer. Just my $0.02 worth.

    Porter-Milton Grain Mill

IMHO, I would drill a hole and put a cotter pin in it. Make sure you roll at least one leg of the cotter pin so it doesn't come out. Glad everything worked out for you.

Historical Beer: Kentucky Common "Kiss Yer Cousin" Rye Kentucky Common Ale

I fermented at 63F for two weeks in primary and 63F for two weeks in secondary. I did a secondary fermentation this time because I needed my 6.5 gallon fermenters for another batch of beer.:rockin:

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Thaddius, thanks for the price comparisons. Sometimes I forget to calculate the cost of my brews since I buy most of my grain in bulk. Nice information to know.:mug:

Historical Beer: Kentucky Common "Kiss Yer Cousin" Rye Kentucky Common Ale

Well, just tasted this version of the beer and it is great!! Just the right note of spicy from the rye, light from the corn, and still reminiscent of a sour mash whiskey. Will brew this one again. The Cry Havoc yeast works well with this beer.:ban:

Brewing a beer today any suggestions???

Biggrizzly, while I have a wife that likes IPAs, she doesn't like stouts and porters. Would you mind sharing your wheat beer recipe? I am planning on brewing a wheat beer soon - splitting into two batches similar to you but one will be a prickly pear wheat from prickly pear juice obtained from...

New way to control Pellet Hop gunk!

Here are some pictures of the keg dry-hopper. Yes, the top is screwed to a matching band which has been welded to mesh frame.

Which size tubing to us with pump

+1 on processhead's post. Too small a tubing size on the inlet will cause the pump to cavitate as it will be starved for liquid. Silicone tubing, will pricey, doesn't collapse as it warms up so is usually recommended for any hot wort. It is also easily cleaned and doesn't stain.

New way to control Pellet Hop gunk!

My brew-buddy and I just received two of carboy style dry-hoppers and two of key style dry-hoppers. They arrived in tip top shape.

    Adding Weight to Muslin Bags

Check out Arbor Fabricating at arborfab.com. They make some neat SS dry-hoppers for carboys and kegs. I just purchased one of each yesterday. Expect them delivered tomorrow or the next day. I did this to avoid hop junk in my beer while still getting the flavor. If you don't like this...

    STC-1000 tool box build

Nice job. Using the tool box does give you lots of room inside for wiring. How much room does the tool box take up? What will you use the stc-1000 to control?
