IPA Recipe Input - Need More Hop Flavor/Aroma

So I tried my luck again with making another IPA. Been in the bottle two weeks, tried it last night, and..........it was ok. Better than the last attempt, but still a little sweet, and I could actually use more hops flavor! I think I need a starter next time or double pitch, I feel like I am...

Bourbon Barnstormer Porter, or just Barnstormer Porter. A Barnstormer seems like pilot that might have had a few before he flew!

60 minute, Whirlpool, and Dry hop only?

I just did a similar recipe, warrior for my bittering, and citra/cascade for my late hop addition, whirlpool and dry hop. In hindsight and after the opinions of others here, I should have just skipped the late additions and done the whirlpool and dry hop (in addition to upping my hop amounts)...

IPA Recipe Input - Need More Hop Flavor/Aroma

Thanks for the input, I will up the flameout and dry hops the next time. Does the dry hop in a muslin bag vs dumping it straight in make any difference?

IPA Recipe Input - Need More Hop Flavor/Aroma

Hey guys, I just drank a bottle of my IPA, my first attempt at my own recipe. It came out pretty good, the bittering was right on, but I feel it needs more hop flavor and aroma. I would like to make this again, so I was hoping for some input on when I should up the hop additions or maybe some...

    Maui Brewing Lorenzini Double IPA

I just had the Maui Brewing Company Lorenzini Double IPA, and I must say it is a great beer. A very drinkable double IPA. It is brewed with blood orange and tangerine juice. If you like Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin, you will like this beer. Readily available here in Hawaii of course...

To The New Brewer - Extract Or All Grain

I also think its important for newbies to know the difference between extract brewing and kit brewing. They are not the same thing (like how I thought it was when I first started reading about homebrewing). Kits do contain extract malts, and the recipe, additions, and times are set for you...

    Pineapple in beer/hot pepper beer

I just bottled an pale ale that I ended up adding pineapple too. I cut up one whole pineapple, soaked it in some vodka for about an hour, and put it straining bag. I added mine right into the primary bucket after ten days of fermentation. I let it sit another 7 days and then racked to...

    2-month old bite?

Thanks for the link, I would say it has an acidic bite, and based on the fault list it had some kind of infection. I still drank it, I just hope the last couple that I gave away didn't have the same bite.

    2-month old bite?

I bottled my first batch of homebrew 2 months ago (extract with steeping grains). I started drinking the beer about 3 weeks after bottling and the beer tasted great. I saved a bottle to see what aging a couple months would do. I opened the beer tonite and the beer has a slight acidic bite to it...

Cost of grains (not in bulk)

I live in Hawaii, so I am used to overpaying for things. Please don't get me wrong, I really appreciate my LHBS and frequent them as much as possible. I like to support local business first before going online. I would like to at least try batch of some type of all grain, at least BIAB...

Cost of grains (not in bulk)

What is the average cost per pound for grains? Not in bulk. At my LBHS the cost for a pound of grain and pound of LME is practically the same ($3.00/grain vs. $3.25-$3.50/LME). And my understanding for an all grain recipe, I will need more lbs of grains as opposed to lbs of LME of a extract...

    Aloha from Hawaii (Oahu)

I started brewing a month ago, figured I would do one batch and see how it goes from there.....and somewhere I made a wrong turn on that plan and now I have a pipeline! Paradise Pale Ale in bottles, Pineapple Ale in the secondary, and an oatmeal stout in the primary. And I still haven't...

    Priming Sugar Amount

thanks for the help. I guess my next batch I will fill up to 5.5 gal. My first batch did have about .5 gal of loss, that is why I was worried I might have used to much priming sugar. Its been 4 days since bottling and no explosions yet, so hopefully it will be alright.

    Priming Sugar Amount

I have noob question about priming sugar calculator, when it asks for volume of beer, am I supposed to put my batch size (5 gal) or the amount I am actually bottling? If it is the actual amount I am bottling, then the conundrum I run into is that I only know how much volume I am bottling after...
