Brewing a light bodied crisp IPA

This is the kind of IPA I enjoy myself. Personally, I just use two-row, a some vienna malt, corn sugar, and zero crystal malts. The corn sugar was the key addition for me to get that crisp taste. I also mash low at about 148. small bittering addition, then all late hop additions, whirlpool...

Texas America On Tap - Anyone?

I went to the one in Honolulu, HI, and it was ok. PROS: 1. unlimited tasting 2. good variety. CONS: 1. nothing is on tap, all bottles. 2. It's just event staff pouring beers, they know nothing about the beers, so don't expect to talk about the beers. 3. if you don't get in early, the...

    What are you drinking now?

Work took me to VA, and finally got to try some beers I've been wanting try for awhile. Dogfish Head 60-min IPA, Bells Two Hearted Ale, and finally Heady Topper. Those were the three that stood out, especially Heady Topper!

Mango's in Primary after fermentation complete?

I just did a pineapple IPA, and I added the pineapple after 2 weeks of primary fermentation. I added it directly to the primary bucket in a muslin bag. I left the pineapple in for 1 week, and then I followed with 1 week of dry hopping.

    America on Tap - Hawaii

The event was fun, although nothing was really on tap, everything was mostly bottles. Either way, still got to try a lot of beers, although they all got a little mixed up in my head by the end of the night. I'm a west coast IPA kind of drinker, so I mostly looked for those. I did like the...

Hey guys, I'm heading to the America on tap beer festival tomorrow night. Its sold out, so I'm assuming long lines to taste the different beers. Can anybody recommend from the list at the bottom of the page (http://americaontap.com/honolulu-hi/#), what beers I definitely have to try, as I...

    lemongrass paste question

I just had Kona Brewing Co. Lemongrass Luau, which is a blonde ale brewed with lemongrass and ginger. It was a pretty tasty brew, not sure if I could drink a lot of it in one sitting, but it had a good spice to it.

Building grain bill for extract IPA

I don't think so, my second recipe I used pilsen and pale malt, and to me that was still too malty. Another thing I forgot to mention is that I'm pretty sure I underpitched my yeast, so that also probably increased the sweetness and maltiness. Good luck, let us know how it comes out!

Building grain bill for extract IPA

I just did a couple of extract IPA recipes, that didn't come out too great, to sweet and malty for me. You can check the feedback I got, as well as the two recipes that I tried: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=545681 Couple things I definitely will do on my next attempt is...

Vissani mini fridge - replacing temp control

I have a similar vissani, that I just picked up and have yet to use. I did read that the highest temp was about 65. But I figured that would be perfect, since that is ambient temperature, and read in another thread that the actual beer temp would be 3-5 degrees higher.

IPA Recipe Input - Need More Hop Flavor/Aroma

I think this is the problem. I will try to do a smaller batch first, maybe 3 gallons and do the full boil and see how that turns out.

IPA Recipe Input - Need More Hop Flavor/Aroma

Thanks for the input, all good recommendations. I probably will eliminate the crystal malts the next time. I will have to try taking out a pound of LME and replacing it with corn sugar, I do want the dryer finish. Right now I am limited to do 3.5 gal boils, I did read that I would get...
