BTW: I LOVE that coffin-top (with the bevels)! That's thing's just crazy nice!

My $30 Craigslist Freezer - A Love Story

DUDE! That thing is WICKED cool! Love the color. You gonna graphic it up or just go as is? Looks great just like it sets, or I can imagine a thousand different ways to jazz it up! After I built mine (and got it well broke-in this summer) I've had the urge to do more/different/bigger. The idea...

    Help a newby out!

Ist Brew Day next Saturday, Sept 1! Anxious to get started, but wanted to wait until my new wort chiller gets here about Tuesday (already shipped from Midwest). Anxious to get started....wish me luck!

    Beer drinker in KY

Glad to hear from another Kentuckian! Was beginning to believe the rumors that all we know here are bourbon and basketball! May take a while to wade through all the forums, but there's lots of good information and some really great people to be found here. Welcome back and enjoy!

    Old School Recipe Wanted

OK, about to date myself here, but back in the 70's the real "King of Beers" in retail America was Stroh's fire brewed. While similar to Bud and Miller, it had a very distinctive flavor. The company went bankrupt in the late 70's-early 80's. Miller bought the patent, then released it a few years...

My $30 Craigslist Freezer - A Love Story

Yeah, I got snookered on ebay. Bought an old refer that had been converted. Guy was supposed to be a commercial refridge servie tech and said he had "rewired, reinsulated, and upgraded the system to the modern refridgerant"... Lied is ass off. The thing wouldnt work more than a day or two...

My $30 Craigslist Freezer - A Love Story

I'm trackin with ya Bro! Gotta keep the other half happy! Looking great, though! I like the satin type finishes. I'm workin on a 79 Ford monster truck that I'm thinking satin paint and green metal flake old-school flame. Old hot rods look really nice in satin paint, and I'm thinkin so will an...

    Cold CO2 Tank

Thanks, folks! My kegger (for now, at least) is running commercial kegs and it works well at about 8-10. As soon as I get a few batches under my belt, I'm gonna switch at least one to a homebrew. Thanks to fatbastard, I'm already thinkin about steppin up my system to handle about a dozen or so...

My $30 Craigslist Freezer - A Love Story

Looks great, dude! I think I'd still hit it with a topcoat, if for no other reason to keep dust from attaching to it. That satin type finish tends to attract dust and pollen. BTW: if you wanna add some graphics you can still do vinyl. By picking them up and installing yourself (really easy to...

My $30 Craigslist Freezer - A Love Story

Yeah, exactly. That's why I went with the vinyl wrap. Didn't cost me much more than paint supplies and was one HELL of a lot faster! And you can do almost ANYTHING with vinyl. I've even used it on cars a few times when what I wanted to too intricate (or time consuming) for airbrushing!

My $30 Craigslist Freezer - A Love Story

Dude! Spray cans can and do work if you make a couple of adjustments. (I am new to brewing but been restoring old card for years!) If your surface ain't slick, the paint wont be no matter what you do to it. Take the time to get all the dents out (or fill them in). Use a good epoxy primer if you...

    Help a newby out!

Sorry to be so long replying. I took the time to do the research and ended up buying a basic kit from Midwest and added a few of those "nice to have" items like a wort chiller, and a delicious sounding Autumn Amber Ale. I will say it was a bit of a toss-up between that one and the Irish Red...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

Thanks for all the great advice on here, everyone! I finally settled on a kit from Midwest, along with a Autumn Amber ale kit. Didn't spend big money, and pretty much have what I need to get started. My best advice to other noobs is this: TAKE THE TIME TO READ THROUGH THESE FORUMS! Ask...

My $30 Craigslist Freezer - A Love Story

Here's a pic of the one I built. I had a local sign shop make up a vinyl wrap instead of paint. Came out great, keeps my brew at 36-38 degrees, & took about half a day to make. will hold 3 half-barrel size kegs (I have 2 tapped & 1 in reserve. NEVER wanna run out!) Enjoy!

    Cold CO2 Tank

OK, thanks guys! That was kinda what I thought. Seems the easiest thing might be like ByrceL said, just keep a spare on hand. My current kegger is a 2-tap tower (cool as hell! Built from all new stuff. Gonna post a pic ASAP!) but right now only have a 5 lb tank. Thinkin about either a 15 or 20...

    Help a newby out!

Thanks, y'all! You kinda echo what I was thinkin. I'm like Sweetcell, it kinda pisses me off to spend cash when I know going in it's gonna be obsolete by the time I unbox it. OK, so next question (again, I've looked in the noobie section and opinions vary) but since you guys are already helpin...

    Cold CO2 Tank

Ok, Thanks guys...my concern also. But as far as the reading on the "amount remaining" side....how reliable is that? I noticed that my full CO2 tank (that I checked and does not leak) registered quite a bit lower after hooking it up to the keg (again, no known leaks). Other than it actually...
