    any nj growers?

my brother lives in galloway (near atlantic city) and has a few kent goldings plants that don't seem to do so well-small cones, wilted leaves, etc... At least not compared to my cascade, chinook and KG plants. But then again I live in the willamette valley:cool:

    Software

What software, if any, do people use for recipe formulation or other purposes and why? I run linux so my options are limited, though I can boot into window$ if need be, so I use the open source qbrew and love it. Very easy to use and customizable, though it's not very feature-heavy. Here's a...

    What's up with the hops?

For anyone interested here's the page for WSU's hop program with info about the recent hop viroid infection. According to the article found on the page it looks like glacier, cascade, centennial, and sterling are in trouble while galena and tetnanger are less afflicted. A lot of others fall...

Need Help finding Chinook, Warrior, or Columbus Hops...

I got the rhizomes from one of my LHBS's, can't remember which one, but I think it was The Cellar in seattle. I split my time between seattle and eugene, OR. I'll keep an eye out for those hops for you when I go to the shop this weekend.

    hello from the willamette valley

I've mainly brewed the basic ales: pale ale, ipa, iipa, esb, etc... I'd like to try to get proficient in a style and get the kinks worked out of a recipe, rather than trying a million different things and having them all be off. Being in the NW I usually hop it up a notch. I almost had an...

I'm down in eugene as I'm a student. It's quiet here, but at least we have Ninkasi everywhere.

    hello from the willamette valley

hello all, I've been home brewing for a little over a year so far and can't seem to stop. Even with the abundance of awesome beer in the NW I still love to make my own. Of course it helps to have a great LHS two blocks away, and another one within a 5 min bike ride.

    Logging my recipes

I like to use qbrew for recipe formulation because it's open source, then print it out and tape it into a nice hard covered lab notebook to be used while brewing. Something like this, or even this would work great. I'm a chemist so I've learned the value of having every little detail written...
