    half recipes

If you cut your Extract kid recipes in 1/2 to only brew 24 bottles ,do boil times have to be cut in 1/2 too?

    American cream ale

Its not bad. It was my First attempt at home brewing. I made some mistakes, but it's not that bad tasting . I'm not sure what I'm going to brew next after the American cream ale is done.

    American cream ale

My American cream ale is sitting in 2nd fermentation. Can't wait, botteling in one more week. Looks a little dark but I posted about that and received great info. My first brew was the weizenbier. Drinking it as I write this. Its not bad but I can't wait to drink that cream ale.

    beers are reddish-brown

So i guess i have to make up my own brew schedules for now on. Trial and error, lessons learned. You spend $$ on these kits, you'd think they would be accurate. Thanks for the input & links...very helpful. Next brew will be better. I hope it tastes good.

    beers are reddish-brown

I follow the boil schedule that comes with the kits precisely. I add lme and dme when instructions say to... Both brews turned out the same colors. It's pretty aggravating.

    beers are reddish-brown

I just finished brewing a wiezenbier and it turned out reddish brown colored. The description of the beer says that it should be deep gold. I just put my American cream ale into second fermentation and it's the same color ...reddish brown, now, that description of the beer is straw colored...

    don't taste like beer.

Well, I decided on botteling the weizenbier instead of dumping it two weeks ago. I want to wait 3-4 weeks until taste day but decided to try just one...not bad! It definitely needs a little more prime time but not bad. Just a wee flat. I'll fill you all in after taste day. I've learned...

    sediment on bottom

I'm pretty limited with space in utility room. It's still the coolest place in the house due to the AC. It's holding temp at 71-73°. I'LL Try to lower best I can.

    sediment on bottom

I'm trying to keep it around or under 72°. It looks like it's boiling, pretty cool. Patience is definitely the hardest part of homebrewing.

    sediment on bottom

Well, I got home from work and the Carboy was Rockin! Major fermentation going on. This is awesome. Temp in utility room is 73.3, maybe the yeast woke up? Pretty cool to see. This is a huge confidence boost. Now I just let it work and monitor temp.

    sediment on bottom

What about shaking it up again? That started the airlock moving a little. Kind of unsettled the sediment at the bottom.
