    Scratched keg

I was just planning to use the boiling water to kill whatever might be living in those scratches. I was going to follow that up with my normal oxyclean soak/rinse and starsan. But from reading your post, it seems like I might just be better off using the hot oxyclean water?

    Scratched keg

Thanks guys :) I'll probably try the boiling water thing just this time to be safe. From then on, I'll use my normal oxyclean, then starsan routine.

    Scratched keg

Hey guys... I bought a corny keg from my LHBS a short while back and noticed that it has several scratches on the bottom near the dip tube. Should I worry about these? I'm about to keg a batch soon and the last thing I need is another infected beer. I was thinking about tossing in some boiling...

    Where can I find?

I think they might - I got exactly that from a local brewery when I ordered a keg recently. It was a corny keg (posts seemed to be covered with something) and a sankey connection on the lid (it appeared to be welded in?).

    Shipyard Pumpkin Ale

My number one choice would be Southern Tier Pumking, but DFH Punkin is good too. I still wish I could find a clone recipe for Pumking. It's a 9 percent beer, but you'd never know that without reading the label.

    These are normal, right?

I thought about it, but I don't want to be cleaning all my brand new kegging equipment. Plus, even tasting a little bit was vomit inducing...

    These are normal, right?

Anybody have any suggestions? I have another brew planned for Sunday but I want to try to figure out what's going wrong first...

    These are normal, right?

Ok, so I just tasted this batch again as I was planning on getting ready to keg it... It smells and tastes absolutely horrible (had to spit it out) and the chunks are still floating up on top. Any ideas on what bug this is? This is not the first time I've had a beer taste like this (no chunks...

    These are normal, right?

Thanks guys - glad to hear it. That's why I love this site :) PS - This will be the first batch making its way into my new kegerator!

    These are normal, right?

I should also note, this is the first time I've ever used irish moss.

UPDATE: See post #8 Hey guys, I just opened up my fermenter to take a reading. It's been fermenting for just about two weeks but I haven't see any airlock activity in over a week. Yeast used was S-04 and it seemed to go to town for a couple days and then stopped. I just took a...

    Transporting keg after fill

I guess that will have to work. So basically I rack in the beer, close the lid, hook the gas line up at like 12psi and pull the pressure relief a couple times?

    Transporting keg after fill

Hey guys, I'm new to the world of kegging so I hope you might be able to help me out by answering a quick question. Unfortunately, my kegerator is in a different location than my fermenter and I'm almost at the point where I need to rack to the keg. Can I rack the beer to the keg, close...

    Dear LHBS Owner (venting)

+1 - The staff there are very friendly and are definitely passionate about brewing. They are also extremely helpful to newbie brewers like myself :)

Where can I get a decent beer in New Orleans?

Yeah, I was just there on Saturday and they had some good stuff. Everything in the fridge is organized by where it's made and the prices weren't too bad from what I recall.

    iPhone guys - Feedback please

My problem with the beer-related AppStore apps is that they use their own databases. For that reason alone, they can't even compare with sites like BeerAdvocate.

    iPhone guys - Feedback please

Please do :) The number of reviews should already be displayed. You can find it under the grade "box." I will probably add in the Style/ABV at some point in the near future as well. I've emailed them but have yet to hear back. That's one of the reasons why I haven't really continued working...

    iPhone guys - Feedback please

Thanks a bunch :) Not sure what's going to happen future wise yet. My main goal was ease of use so I don't want it to become cluttered with too many "features."

    iPhone guys - Feedback please

Thanks a bunch guys! With the number of times I go to the store looking for a new beer to try, I really started to see the need for something that was a bit more mobile-friendly than a search on BeerAdvocate. I've used it a couple times since then and so far I'm pretty happy with the results...
