    Recognize this brew cask?

Having grown up watching The Three Stooges, I have an affinity for Seltzer Bottles and tend to by them when I find them at Flea Markets and Junk Stores. One CO2 cartridge will carbonate one liter of very cold water, so if I were going to use it to carb beer, I'd expect to use 6 to 10 cartridges...

    Slow Fermintation for Cyser

71B burned through my Black Raspberry Melomel in 9 days. Taking it from 1.085 to .994. I used 2 Tbls of Yeast Nutrient and 1 Tbls of Yeast Energizer. I believe they are from LD Carlson. 71B took 10 days on my, OG 1.096, Tart Cherry Melomel for airlock activity to take longer than I have the...

    Marking Bottles Without Labels

I'm a noob, but I'm just color coding with crown caps. Apple gets green, black raspberry gets purple, cherry gets red, etc. Give-away's get printed mailing labels.

    Tart Cherry Cider

I plan to stabilize with K-meta and K-sorb, back sweeten with the tart cherry juice, keg and carbonate. I'll upload some pics when it's done.

    Tart Cherry Cider

I just have to boast about my Tart Cherry Cider I have brewing. One week to Secondary and it already tastes amazing. Here's the recipe: 5.25 gallons Great Value Apple Juice 1 gallon Old Orchard Tart Cherry Juice 6 tsp Yeast Nutrient 3 tsp Yeast Energizer 1 packet Lavin D-47 Original gravity...

    DIY Carboy Carrier

Yes, I made it, mainly, for a Mountain Valley Spring Water carboy that I use for Secondary. It sits solid and doesn't rock. The Fermonsters, I use for Primary, have a fairly deep punt on the bottom. I really wish I could remember how I calculated the lengths I needed, so I could make another one.

Campden tablets while racking to secondary: leave exposed to air for 24 hours?

I just put the bung and airlock back on after adding K-meta, then add K-sorb 12 hours later. Wait a couple of days and then degas with a wine whip.

can't stress how much i love my scale!

As much as this thread keeps popping up under new posts, it needs re-titled to "Have I mentioned how much I love my scale?"

    Brewer's Best Cider Kit

I used a Brewer's Best Apple Cider kit for my first brew. It turned out great. I used 5oz of corn sugar instead of carbonation drops.

    Vintage Bottle and Can Collectors

Here's two containing my Black Raspberry Melomel.

show your age with a picture of a toy from your childhood

Mattel was great for teaching us hot things hurt. Closely related to this and Creepy Crawlies was the Strange Change Tim Machine.

    Vintage Bottle and Can Collectors

Rather that start a new thread, or revive one over a decade old, I thought I'd post these here. I picked up five antique bottles, yesterday, and I'm going to use them. The center clear is marked 'NET.WT 1 LB. 11 OZ.' opposite the volume, and 'GOULDING MAPLE SYRUP CO. WHITMAN, MASS.' on the...

    Silly Idea for Dispensing

Or, you could enlarge the cold water reservoir and install a SS coil to cool your brew as it flows to the tap. Or, imagine a top loader with a lightly carbed brew with a CO2 injector right before the tap. Really just a thought experiment, totally impractical.

    Silly Idea for Dispensing

Those are classy, bookmarked for future consideration. Thanks!

    Silly Idea for Dispensing

An old school premix soda fountain should work as a kegerator, if you could find one.

    Distilled water PH

Pure distilled water is neutral pH, 7.0 It is the basis for the whole pH scale. As others have noted, it will absorb CO2 and become, very slightly, acidic.

    Silly Idea for Dispensing

I know this idea is silly and impractical, but it's a fun and intriguing thought experiment to me. What modifications would it take to turn a water cooler into a kegerator? Top loader? Bottom loader? Discuss!

    Poor carbonation

I'm no expert and have little experience, but it sounds like your priming sugar didn't get distributed evenly. I'd store all of them in the fridge just in case a few bottles got an extra dose and are potential bottle bombs. There is no good way to fix them. I'd just drink them and experience...

    Fermonster lid fix

I'm an absolute noob with three Fermonsters. I got a couple of extra o-rings after reading about issues, but have had no problems, yet. I think the main issue is with people over-tightening the lids. I make them barely snug and get a good seal. You can use a little keg lube, as well.

    Multimeter recommendation

For your purposes, a good quality, low cost multimeter is what you need. I have a Greenlee kit that include an multimeter, a touch-less power indicator, and an outlet tester, that I got at Lowe's for ;ess than $50. I've rewired three houses. repaired a quilting machine, my oven, my dishwasher...
