I am looking for a good IPA recipie. I really like Magic Hats IPA but can't find much info on it. Other than it uses Columbus Hops and is 5.8% with IBU 45

Turend out great. I havent had a Fat Tire in a while but it was very good beer.

So If I want to make a strawberry pale I could add the berries to the primary after 2 weeks? Sort of like dry hopping without secondary? Any draw backs?

I STRONGLY disagree. I leave mine in the primary 3 weeks as an average and get some better, clearer beer than when I used the secondary. 4 weeks will be fine. Some folks leave it way longer than that.

However there is an argument to be made for not using a secondary at all. I am trying my first attempt at dry hopping and am going to do it right in the primary. Since I stopped using a secondary my beer has been clearer. I will let you know how it comes out.

I steep in a gallon than bring it up to 2.5 for a partial boil.

+1 on leaving it for at least 2 weeks. +1 on listening to Revvy Lots of folks have given up on the secondary despite what the directions say on your kit. I have found my beer is better and clearer with a 3 week primary than it was with a 1 week primary and 2 week secondary. With that...

Just leave it out. Color will be lighter ansd taste may be different but still good beer.

I still secondary my Kolsch and use a 6.5 carboy and have had no issues. I leave it in primary for 2 weeks than secondary in a cooler area for another 2 weeks.

Carbonation takes time. Letting beer sit in primary for long periods will not hurt it but will help it. Relax. Let it sit for at least 2 more weeks.

Why not KISS and use an ounce of chinook?
