Once again, I would like to thank everyone for their helpful responses. This site had helped me a ton as I have ever so slowly improved my brewing. I'll put this carboy back incase I ever make some root beer again, and replace it with glass or, if I get lucky, stainless.

Bishop I used hot water, but kept it under 140 degrees. The BLC made no difference. I guess this carboy is going to be repurposed as..... something.

I did try pbw and after that pretty much assumed it was a lost cause. I don't agree with these shady review practices in the least. I will give a company a chance to address any complaints or concerns I have before placing a negative review, but I won't give a positive review that isn't deserved.

As I stated in my original post, it is a big mouth bubbler and I have scrubbed the effected area. So a plastic bucket would not make things easier in any way shape or form. I appreciate your hopes for my equipment breaking though.

The fourth time was the charm for me. I honestly started over from scratch 4 times before I could get it installed properly. Are you using the RaspberryPints-master.zip or RaspberryPints-2.0.1.zip? I had to use the 2.0.1 file from the rp site as opposed to GitHub

I solved my display issue. I had to delete the kiosk line in step six. I then went into chromium, set raspberry pints as the homepage, adjusted the zoom to 60, and set to full screen. Unfortunately I will have to open chromium and go to full screen manually each time, but the Kiosk feature left...

What did you guys do to make all your taps fit? I have a 26" Sanyo LCD I picked up at a pawn shop for $50, and i can only display 3.5 taps in landscape and portrait isn't much better. I've set the hdmi settings to hdmi group 1 mode 4. The desktop and everything else fits the screen fine. Can...

That recipe makes some damn good beer. I made a batch for my wife last Mother's Day and it didn't last long at all.

I steep the grains with the 2-3 gallons of water and then use the remaining water to rinse the grains until the water running off of them is clear. I've only done a dozen batches or so though, so I'm not an expert.

Keep in mind I have not brewed this myself, I only converted the supplied recipe using beer smith. Therefore, I can not comment on how close this will actually resemble Wreck Alley. This does not list the cacao nibs or coffee either, so you will need to do that as well.
