What I did for beer today

Added the cherries to the Belgian dubbel. Had to take a pint of beer out first because the fruit wouldn't all fit. Can't wait to drink it after work tonight!

Who's NOT making IPAs and what are you brewing?

Brewed my birthday beer - a spiced cherry dubbel (I have found overnight mashes to work well for my limited time to brew) from the 12 beers of Christmas. Looking forward to tapping it Christmas Day.

Picked up the yeast and grain for my Christmas beer, which I'll be brewing Friday. I'm doing a 2.5 gallon spiced cherry dubbel. It'll be called 4. There will be 4 pounds of cherries added, and 4 is one of the LOST numbers (all my beers are a refernece to LOST, thanks to my awesome tap handle...

What are you brewing in 2019

So far, a schwarzbier, a mango blonde, a RIS, and a strawberry milkshake IPA. Next up is a spiced cherry dubbel (the same one from the 12 beers of Christmas), which will be tapped on Christmas Day. I'll probably try to get a SMaSH in soon so I have something on tap.

What I did for beer today

Finally kegged the Kate - Strawberry Milkshake IPA. When I was debating how to add the strawberries, someone asked me to update what I did. I ended up gently lowering 3 pounds of whole frozen strawberries into my fermenter in a sanitized grain bag, along with the vanilla bean soaked in vodka...

    What are you drinking now?

Milkshake Deams with Tangerines. Not a fan of the stuff floating around in the beer. I personally don't find that appealing. Taste is pretty good though.

    Home Brewing = Saving Money?

I brew 2.5 gallon batches. I did the calculations on my Sawyer - a 9.5% whiskey imperial stout very loosely based on a KBS clone. It came to roughly $1.47 per 12 oz bottle. In our area, KBS is $24/4 pack or $6-$10/bottle. I used hops we already had in our freezer, so my cost was a bit lower...

    What are you drinking now?

Juliet, because the 2010 wine I bought for our anniversary was no good.
