Kamado cookers thread (green egg, kamado joe, primo etc)

Yes, it has a bracket that allows it to sit low for smoking and place on top of the grate for baking. I don't think the set up is as nice as a place setter, but as long as it works I will be pleased. We have an egg at the firehouse, that is what got me interested in the kamados. Hope to pick...

Kamado cookers thread (green egg, kamado joe, primo etc)

Thanks! Not too bad for 600$. I could afford that after saving for a bit and justify it to the wife. 1400$ for bge/kj/primo? Not so much at this point in life. Dang it, now I wanna cook something on it tonight! :) Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Few more. The two tier grate. Not a ton of space, but can do veggies, steaks, skillet of beans, or maybe ribs. I am happy, but have only cooked once. Looking forward to baking and smoking whenever I can get the lava stone, low an slow will be the true test probably. I'll keep y'all updated...

Kamado cookers thread (green egg, kamado joe, primo etc)

I'll try and get some tomorrow when I get home. The big test will be after I get the smoking stone and try some long smokes and baking pizza. Last night I had it up to 800 and cooked the steaks at 650. It was pretty consistent and stable temp for the short amount of time I cooked. I don't...

Funny things you've overheard about beer

Had it yesterday. Nothing outstanding or unique, nothing horrible. Decent taste, but not in your face either. I enjoyed it, wasn't a ruination by any means. But for those who aren't hop heads, a decent ipa. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Ok, that's what I needed to hear. May bottle and give it during Super Bowl. Thanks. Prob not even carb, just wine bottle, chill, and pour. Thanks!

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Oh it's gonna get drunk!! Just need to know bottle now or let it ride in the fermenter and see what happens.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Well crap!! I went down to cold crash a beer for the Super Bowl and noticed a slight film and a few grey/white chunks on my previously clear apfelwein! So, do I ride it out, or bottle quick from underneath and go ahead and drink it. Tastes good already, that's probably how it got infected. Stole...

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

It is called a fatty or bacon explosion. We had scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese, and hash browns inside, and bacon weaved on top. Pretty good, but I will tweak it next time.

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

First attempt at a fatty at the firehouse. Guys seemed to like it. Need to either bump the heat or use thin cut bacon next time. Not bad for first attempt.

Kamado cookers thread (green egg, kamado joe, primo etc)

Best method of cooling steaks I have found so far. From big green egg's website. Trim the steaks of any excess fat. Mix all of the dry ingredients together and apply to both sides of the steaks. Allow to stand at room temperature for 30 minutes before grilling. Set the EGG® up for direct...

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

Does anyone know about fatties? Can I put regular waffles in it, or will they become too soggy? Should I fry hash browns a little or put them in frozen?

Kamado cookers thread (green egg, kamado joe, primo etc)

First attempt at pizza tonight. Turned out pretty good. Guys at the station liked it, and we learned stuff for next time. Although, I had to open the top swing part about a quarter way to keep it up around 5-550. Is this normal or did I pack the charcoal too tight?

Opened my first beer - I didn't ruin it. pics

Congrats! It only gets better, more fun, and more addicting from here! Enjoy your first.
