    55 gal electric boil kettle

Thanks for your input fellas, much appreciated. Here's a thought.... being that my panel has space for a two pole (the 50a Gfci breaker) can I replace that with two single pole 30a GFCI's and run two seperate 30a circuits? Sounds doable....

    55 gal electric boil kettle

Got it. I should just run two separate 30 amp circuits. Don't want to burn the place down!

    55 gal electric boil kettle

Is that because the 30 a element will try to draw 50 A ?

    55 gal electric boil kettle

So I ran a new circuit. I bought a 50 amp GFCi, 6 Awg wire and two 30 amp recepticles. I have a High Gravity EBC-II that will go into one of the 30a recepticles, and I am going to buy another High Gravity simple kettle controller to power the second 5500w heating element. Any problem with...

I'm thinking I will wire a single pole switch between the power supply and element plug in. And yes both recepticles will be on a gfci breaker

    Water test = bad news

Thanks for the input fellas.... This is one of those examples of the saying,"budget your brewery build than double it for incidentals" guess I will need a serious filtration system

    Water test = bad news

My story in a nut shell... home brewer for 10+ years. Trying to go pro. I moved my equipment to a new location that has well water as its main source . Brewed a batch of beer that came out pretty good but not great. I thought, ummm maybe it's the water? I should have done this earlier in...

    55 gal electric boil kettle

Here's a question, has anyone added a second element in the 4500-5500 watt range and just plugged straight into a 30a receptical? Bypassing a control panel all together? I'm thinking one at 100% straight from the wall plug until I hit boil, than unplug it and maintain boil with the one element...

Do you guys have pictures of your set up ? what are using for a control panel?

    55 gal electric boil kettle

If you don't want to mess with running 50A you could do a 4500 and a 2500, might be cutting it a little close though. Just make sure your wire is actually rated to 30A over the run. Or a 4500 and a 1500, I have a 50 gallon boil kettle and boil about 33 gallons with 6000W. It is not a ripping...

    55 gal electric boil kettle

No I haven't. I figure it will be way to long to bring 35 gallons to boil with just one element. Two would do the trick I think.

    55 gal electric boil kettle

    Thank you guys for the quick responses . I didn't think about running the 4500 And a 1500 w element....what about the 4500 w element on my 30a circuit with a 2500 W on a separate 120 household circuit?

    55 gal electric boil kettle

I have A 15 gallon Kegel with one 4500 W ultra low density element on a 30 amp circuit that I have been brewing with and having success . I recently picked up a 55 gallon stainless steel kettle and want to install 2 4500 watt elements in there. Anyone out here doing this? I assume I'll...
