Gardening: My Tomatoe and Pepper Progress

Its been to cool a summer here for anything other than my locotos. Even the greenhouse ones haven't done much, nightime temps too low. I do have one of each inside my house though that are doing well at least. Also lost my outside tomatoes to Late blight, apart from the blight resistant...

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

last couple of times I've used Crisp crystal malt I've noticed it has quite the range of coloured grains in it. Definitely a mix in varying amounts for whatever colour they are aiming for.

First outside fruit set on a crimson crush. Sowed this at the end of March. 2022 cereal crop might fill a thimble. I found these growing from some homemade compost and potted them up, I presume it is from pearl barley as I can't remember using unmalted whole barley when brewing. Or is it wheat?

We are having rather a cool start to summer, bit annoying in terms of growth of plants. 15c during the day and also some 40mph gusts

    Chinese food

Apart from velveting, a lot of takeaways lightly poach the chicken first as you did, then of course they only spend 30 seconds in the wok as its on a 40kW burner. I think the "wok burner" on my cooker is 1 tenth of that .

    Cutting tips of bines

A spade and lots of colourful language. It was right next to a fence too, so it is still alive, although on a neighbours plot now.

This is the main crown and some roots from a 3 or 4 year old cutting. Taking cuttings works extremely well for hops!

My outdoor tomatoes went out at the weekend. Growing tomatoes outdoors in Scotland isn't the most sensible of ideas, but in order to try and maximise any potential crop I've gone for Crimson Crush F1, a blight tolerant british bred variety. Aurora, an early russian determinant and Banan Krasnyi...

I do love coriander/cilantro. The green seeds are great and the flowers are edible too. It wants to go to seed in the warmth of late spring and summer. It is much slower to bolt if you can sow it late summer/early autumn for autumn/winter/spring, an early september sowing can give you leaves...

    Rhizome growing help

@richwljones glad to see they are alive. I planted mine about 5 cm down, but there will be better guides out there than me I am no expert. It it usually suggested to just let it do its own thing in the first year as it needs as much photosynthesis as possible to put down roots and build itself...
