efficiency loss after the mash? or just confused about beersmith.

Are you sure that you have the correct equipment profile? Could always do the calculations manually..How is your evaporation rate? Are you taking your preboil gravity?

    What to do with this?

would work nice as a wort agitator

    Which Mash Tun

I also agree the Igloo/Gott coolers are the best way to go.HD has them fairly cheap. I started with a 5gal one braid....barely fit most of my beers....Upgraded to the 10 gal with false bottom... can do everything.I wouldn't waste any money on a round 5 gal...

    Recirulating mash

You could always consider building a heat stick and using it to raise your mash temps. Fairly cheap and reliable...

    Mash strainer problems

I agree with shorty...make sure your vorlauf is complete. I usually have to go at least 2-3 quarts, I use a false bottom. Stupid question but your manifold slats are facing the bottom of the tun right?

Should I dry hop my failed janets brown ale?

Eh if you don't mind the cost of the hops pitch em in there. Our if the cascades are open wouldn't hurt to use them either..

    One Boilermaker All Grain

Sounds like alot of work when you already have a MLT...Its possible, only thing I could see is potential for bacteria contamination or possibly contribute to hot-side aeration

Where to Buy Thermocouple or RTD?

There was an article in BYO on how to make your thermometers/probe IIRC...

Do you get what you pay for (cheap turkey fryer kit)?

Well of course its a great buy...I currently run two similar setups. And you could always upgrade burner and do any modification to get it to fit

    Is my plastic hose ok?

Is it a discoloration? When in doubt a couple bucks for a hose vs ruining a batch of beer...I would buy a new hose

    Any thermometer work?

I purchased a couple of those with the metal mesh coated wire...needless to say they got destroyed because where the actual thermistor tip is located is not "waterproof" and, even though I siliconed the crap out of them to make sure they were waterproof, they still crapped out after a couple...

    Any thermometer work?

I agree that most dial thermo's work. As long as you can calibrate them accurately. BYO has a good writeup for calibration. I just recent purchased a thermoworks with high-temp probe...wonderful, but pricey. You will find alot of people praising whatever one works for them. Most cheap ones are...

    Mash Temperature Inversion

Make sure everything is well stirred and check in about 5 mins. If the temp hasn't stabilized might consider a little cold water to bring it down to target.
