I am not feeling great today, so I am not going to stay very long. I will have some brews to trade, though. I stayed longer as I having some excellent samples. If anyone wants a centennial hops clipping, I am near Dry Dock. Thx to Chessking for bringing some tasty trades.

    More local Christmas beer exchange

Due to the popularity with the concept of trading beers locally here in the Denver metro, lets get a second group going. Please post what you would like to brew and we will trade in mid December. I will brew a belgian quad, which I got from Williams Brewing. I did this beer last year and...

    Local 12 beers of Christmas

I can do a beer if you want an even 12. I assume that you are trading them?

Do we still have a rhizome exchange going?

You can certainly trade clippings in the summer. They are easy to root. While I have used a few inches of water in a 5 gal bucket, I have also heard of individual bines in a beer bottle with water.

    Transplating new rhizomes

Yes, taking a shoot that formed away from the main mass is ok. They do not root very deep, so the branched off bines are ok. I usually just sever the runners with a spade. Yes, the original rhizome will grow laterally. Do not worry about damaging the original rhizome if you are 8 inches away...

Show off your 2012 Hops garden!

Here are my Centennial and Cascade. They had some hail damage, but recovered. I am in Aurora, Colorado. The poles need to be taller, as the top wire is only about 10 feet tall. The vines tend to cluster at the top. Last year's production was 28 dry ounces.

Denver area rooted hops cuttings free

Shipping method for starts In case anyone is curious, I used hydro soil that was moistened and balled around the root mass for shipping. I put the root mass and soil into a sandwich bag and taped it up with packing tape, making sure that I did not tape the stem. I coiled the plants in a box...

All of the Saaz are spoken for. I can take more cuttings of Centennial if anyone wants them. PM me if you do.

    Hail!

Just let them grow. They will send out new shoots and leaves from the leaf junctions. Make sure to water them and they will probably produce a crop this year.

    Hail vs hops

They will recover. New leaves will spring up to replace the damaged ones.

Most different hop you have to grow

There are some wild hops in Colorado. I have not propagated any, but I know where some are located. I am not sure if they are ancestral or from the early settlers.

    Summit rhizomes

I wonder if it is possible to clone from one leaf?
  18. B

    Whoah! Easy propogation...

If you cut them at a leaf junction, the stem will seal there are roots will form immediately above. I have rooted many cuttings that way in a 5 gallon bucket with a few inches of water in the bottom.

yes, I can send some to you, however, live plants dont ship easily. PM your address and what you would like. I have Saaz and Centennial.

    Is there any hope?

Yes, there is hope. I have had hops appear dead and then come back. Make sure that they are not planted too deep. They should only be barely covered. You can root cuttings from your source. I also have some cuttings that are rooted, if you want Saaz or Centennial.
