    S'More Beer?

I would advise against a beer like this. I just tried a Creme Brule stout last weekend at Smokin' Joes on the South Side of Pittsburgh. It was high ABV but the sweetness was God awful and overpowering. Like sucking down a bottle of isopropyl 90% with concentrated candle scent. Cripes... I think...

    My first year hops

Holy crap man! Those are all first year?!?!? How much are you watering? Did you fertilize your soil?

    RIP Les Paul

A truly great man, musician and innovator. He will be greatly missed.

My attempt at a Blue Moon clone

Wait it out. After it is fermented, taste it and if you like the flavor then brew another batch exactly the same, DOUBLE the hops in the second beer, pitch on top of your yeast cake and then blend the two together once the 2nd round is done fermenting. Then bottle/keg. It's worth a shot!

Motorcycle covers for long term storage outdoors

Where I live, our winters are pretty mild so I store my Vulcan 1500 outside with a cover. Just clean it, fill it with good gas, deflate tires some, remove battery, take off saddlebags, and put cover on. Those cycleshells are supposedly really great! I have a two part, lined, heavy cordura cover...

    Homegrown Nugget Hops

I too, would be interested in the "freezing of the fresh hop" technique. I have first year Chinook and Centennial, but the cones are growing at different rates. So I am pretty sure some will be ready before others. I want to make a fresh hop IPA, but don't know how to do it if all the hops...

Pitching equal yeast amounts into 2 carboys?

OK, I took a look at the Mr Malty Calculator and I am not sure if I totally understand it. I have always done this https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/how-make-yeast-starter-pictorial-76101/ when making starters. Like I said, this has been for 5.5 gal batches. But according to the Mr Malty calc, if...

Pitching equal yeast amounts into 2 carboys?

So when I buy yeast (lets say a Wyeast SmackPak) I should buy 2 of them and just make 2 totally separate starters, the same size? Could I effectively just buy 1 pak (to save money) and then double the size of my starter by mixing twice as much water and DME? Maybe give it a couple extra days to...

Pitching equal yeast amounts into 2 carboys?

OK, so right now I am just doing 5.5 gal batches in a 6.5 gal carboy. Works great. No problems. BUT, I am starting to plan for doing 10-12 gal batches and I just thought... "how do I pitch equal amounts of yeast from my starter into two separate carboys???" Obviously I will need two primary...

    Pacman - Wyeast 1764

Is this yeast always available? I thought it was a special release from Rogue that was limited. It is supposed to be a really great, high attenuating, clean yeast. You could sub it for either the 04 or 05. Ferment between 60-70, best results at the lower end of that range.

    Perlick creamer faucet

I think when I upgrade to two more taps, I will add a creamer faucet. Use it for dessert beers (hazelnut brown etc), porters, stouts and cream ales. I have seen videos of this in use and it is really cool!

BrewPal for iPhone- anyone else using it?

For the developer: I think it would be cool to somehow incorporate the "Style Guide" section into a new recipe creation. So that I could pick a style (i.e. American Pale Ale) and it would give me a base ingredient list to start from. Or something along those lines. Basically, a recipe cheat...

    Making a starter without DME

    Faster cooling

Is there a reason you wait to get below 100 before whirlpooling with the spoon????

    Faster cooling

I have a big rubber/plastic tub (heat resistant) that I fill with ice and some salt, then when the boil is done I pickup my boil kettle with the IC in it, and place it on the ice. I too have it connected to an outside hose line that has water temps in the 70s, but with the ice water bath, moving...

    2009 Longshot.

Both my beers registered online, and showed that they had arrived safe and sound. Now maybe something happened to the bottles AFTER they arrived, but I am still hoping I get feedback. :(

    2009 Longshot.

I entered two beers (shipped them together at same time) and only got results for one of my beers. Anyone else experience this? I am hoping another packet comes in the mail with the score sheets from my honey brown. We ended up with a 34 on our chocolate coffee oatmeal stout - that's not bad...

    Sierra Nevada Kellerweis

Yeah, the photo in the ad kind of my me do a double-take when I saw the dude raking those giant fermentation tanks. Wicked cool!

    Sierra Nevada Kellerweis

I saw an ad for this in the latest BYO and thought it sounded intriguing. I am not really one for Heffes, wheat beers and/or Belgians, but there are a few I like. I went to the Dutch Goose last night for $1 draft Thursday and they had this on tap. After blowing the keg of Dagger Falls IPA :'( I...
