Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

I was planning on using some adhesive wheel weights on the top of my lid to counterbalance the weight of the Steam Slayer, anyone think of any issues there?

    Random Drunken Thoughts Thread

Since monkey have feet like hands, do you think that in lieu oh holding hands, sometimes they hold feet??

    Lid mounted steam condenser

I appreciate the offer, it’s every bit as much my fault for not catching that on the website or asking more questions. I was able to track down a local fabricator who had some and picked up a few this afternoon.

    A Quick Shout Out

I've been upgrading my space and some of my gear as well. I was putting together some of it last night and realized I was missing some gaskets. LHBS is closed on mondays and I did a quick google search only to find out a place called Bubba's Barrels is about 20 minutes away and they carried what...

    Lid mounted steam condenser

I did get the 90 degree elbow and triclamps for it as well. Just no gaskets. I drilled a hole as close to the edge as possible. I’m pretty sure I’ll be OK without the extender. We will find out.

    Lid mounted steam condenser

Looks like I may have answered my own question. Found this on the brew hardware website: We added the extra clamps needed for the elbow and to attach the unit to the elbow but not any extra gaskets. Looks like this is on hold until the LHBS opens Tuesday and fingers crossed they have the gaskets.

    Lid mounted steam condenser

Are there supposed to be gaskets that go with each coupling? Only one of the supplies couplings has a gasket. When I ordered it all, I checked with Bobby to make sure I had all I needed in my cart and he didn’t indicate I needed any gaskets for the elbow on the lid or anything else but it...

    Lid mounted steam condenser

That’s something I’d have to figure as well. I can weigh the components and work up a counterweight to put opposite the steam slayer.

    Lid mounted steam condenser

I picked up a Steam Slayer from @Bobby_M a little while back and now I’m finally ready to mount it to my boil kettle lid. My question is that since my lid is curved a bit and there’s a handle in the middle, where on the lid is the best place to mount it? If it matters to anyone, it’s an SS...

    Brew Space

Thanks. First brew in the space in the books. Nailed my OG. The steam slayer will be a welcome addition to the process for sure. The induction plate was so much faster than my gas cooktop. It caught me flat footed as I was prepping everything as I normally do when heating my strike water and...

    Brew Space

While it is not done yet. I'll be doing the first brew in the space today. All lined up to do the first of a couple winter warmers I have planned. I figured that's a good way get things dialed in since it's my first brew with an induction plate ever and I want to know what the baseline is before...

    Brew Space

I actually own a pair of businesses and work like 50-60 hours a week and I have a young son. I work most evenings and the weekends as well. It varies day to day week to week. Brewing beer is one of the ways I unplug and unwind. So, going out there and working for an hour or helps keep my mind right.

    Brew Space

Sink and faucet installed. FastRack bottle racks fit perfectly in the cabinets too. I need to get a couple more trays though or just take out the middle shelf in the cabinet.

Who’s still brewing Belgian-style ales and what’s your favorite recipe?

Funny. I downloaded that recipe and put it in Beersmith on Monday. Let us know how it goes for sure.

    Brew Space

Got all the tile and grout done as well as the painting. Either tomorrow or friday I'll get the sink and faucet mounted, "doors" on the storage part of the island and some of my gear unpacked and stashed. I can't wait to actually brew in the space hopefully sometime next week.

    Holiday Brewing gifts

My wife asked me the other day what I wanted for Christmas (my birthday happens to be the same week as well) and I told her I'm sure it will be brewing related. Now I'm browsing the web for fun beer gift ideas. I'll definitely be asking for more glassware. What are you going to ask for/buy...
