interested in some ideas on how this APA will turn out

it ended at 1.014 - initial sample is not sweet at all! 20% of the grain bill is flaked oats, so yes, 3#

interested in some ideas on how this APA will turn out

    I transferred to keg today. Initial taste is promising. I'm not really sure what I was aiming for! Original Gravity: 1.059 (1.045 - 1.060) Terminal Gravity: 1.015 (1.010 - 1.015) Color: 9.95*SRM (5.0 - 14.0) Alcohol: 5.76% (4.5% - 6.0%) Bitterness: 28.5 (30.0 - 45.0) Ingredients...

    a self-congratulatory thread about beer

I'll post the final recipe in the next few days for sure. I want to taste the final product first!

To my knowledge it did not get entered in the Pro Am GABF, but I agree, it would be cool!

    a self-congratulatory thread about beer

I'll try to get an answer on this tomorrow, but my initial thought is dry hop loss believe it or not. I hope it is still on tap July 3rd. 14 barrels may not last long in P-Town.

    a self-congratulatory thread about beer

The beer will be tapped this Friday. Look for "popularity contest" IPA at Breakside Slabtown. 14 barrels netted , so it'll go fast.

    a self-congratulatory thread about beer

It will be in their slabtown location and likely a one off, but who knows? I imagine that could change if it does really well? I'm sure I'll get my share of pints when we do the tapping party! The experience itself was incredible. The beers I sampled and lunch in the restaurant was icing on...

    a self-congratulatory thread about beer

A few things I learned: There is a surprising amount of manual work that is involved. Meaning that there are lots of knobs to turn and tweak vs set it and forget it. For example, manually mixing hot and cold water to get the right sparse water temp. They also place a tremendous amount of...

    a self-congratulatory thread about beer

Last Fall I entered my first brewing competition with an IPA recipe that was modeled off of Grey Sail's Captain's Daughter IPA. I wanted a lower ABV and slightly more West coast take on it. In any event, I ended up taking first place in the Oregon Fall Classic, which surprised the heck out of...

5-Tap copper water manifold, with swivel pot filler

I realize I'm resurrecting a very old thread. But where did you get the swivel joint?

    CraftBeerPi - Raspberry Pi Software

I just upgraded to a 50 amp panel with the hosehead/craftbeerpi set up. However I cannot seem to get both elements firing at the same time. Any advice?

Thanks for the link and recommendation. It looks very nice and certainly gets rave reviews. One of my biggest concerns is sanitation- both ease and assurance - with any counter flow system.

    Oregon Bichmann Hopblocker

Where in Oregon are you and do you think it would be compatible with a spike kettle? I'm in Clackamas

Thanks for the responses. Ground water in Portland is cold all year round- no issues there. The jaded guy told me that the smaller cyclone was specifically for recirculating. But I am very tempted to get that monstrous typhoon. It's 6 ft long
