    Clawhammer Supply eBIAB Review

I brewed this morning. Literally threw 7 gallons of water in, set mash temp for 154 and walked away. Set the alarm to come on when it hit mash temp, which was about an hour. Mashed in then played darts and cleaned my garage. I'd come back and stir every 15 mins but that's not really necessary...

    Clawhammer Supply eBIAB Review

I had horrible efficiency my first two or three brews. I ended up milling grain super fine and now I'm back on track. I brewed this morning and was shooting for 1.050 and hit it right on the money. Didn't need to have longer boil either. Business as usual. Also, when you hang the grain basket to...

    Clawhammer Supply eBIAB Review

The kettle is in fact 10.5 gallons. I believe their 1st generation test system was a smaller kettle. The element does NOT come wired. They've got a really good YT video walking through the steps to put it together.

    Clawhammer Supply eBIAB Review

The Brew- Boss "value" system is $1300 and doesn't have the SS basket, only a mesh bag, I wasn't a huge fan of their layout with the smaller control box, awkward recirculation arm and just the overall look especially for that price point. The CHS system is very similar to the HG system, besides...

Grainfather owners: sell me on the GF over the Robobrew, Mash & Boil

I just recently purchased the Clawhammer Supply setup. The main selling point was that if something breaks, and it will eventually, i can easily find replacement parts and nothing is proprietary. Just my .02

I brewed on the system last night and wrote up a quick overall review. I posted the link below for the review. Let me know if there's anything I missed. Thanks https://www.homebrewtalk.com/forum/threads/clawhammer-supply-biab-review.644250/

    Clawhammer Supply BIAB Review

So I got the Clawhammer System all put together. I did not take too much setup time or technical know-how to put it together. If you run into any snags, just check out their youtube videos on setup for the system and also the element. The system was reading +/- 2 degrees Fahrenheit from what my...

    Clawhammer Supply BIAB

I just got my CHS system all set up and ready to brew. I will be taking a metric ton of pictures tonight when I brew a brown ale. I will also start a new thread and link it here. Any questions or things you'd like to see during the brew session just let me know and I'll be sure to include it in...

    Clawhammer Supply BIAB

Did you do full volume mash? I am putting together a recipe and its calling for 8.6 gallons of water. Sounds a bit much considering .75 gallon in grain and about .5 gallon boil off. I thought Id start with about 6.5 or 6.75 gallons.

    Clawhammer Supply BIAB

My plan is to set the mash temp and go work on other projects then come back about an hour and a half later. It may take longer to heat up to mash temp, but I won't be sitting on my thumb waiting for it to heat up so that's not a big deal. Did it come with the insulation package or did you wrap...

    Clawhammer Supply BIAB

Ok I got impatient and ordered the complete kit for 850. Probably going to sell off the plate chiller and possibly the PID control box (not for 499) and use an Inkbird but only time will tell. I plan on adding the condenser and another 1650w element eventually but I will see how it does just...

    Clawhammer Supply BIAB

I just got off the phone with Emmett. They are currently doing end of year inventory so it will be a little while before the 240v system is released. The 120v version will be available a la carte in the near future so if you don't need a plate chiller, like me, you don't have to buy it. The...

    Clawhammer Supply BIAB

I have been looking at the CHS system or awhile now too. I will probably pull the trigger on it very soon. Down the road, I will upgrade to a Bayou Classic 1160 and add another 1650 watt element, wire in another PID, on/off switch and separate power cord running to a separate 20 amp GFCI outlet...

How big of a batch can you knock out with the 15 gallon kettle?

    Inkbird IPB-16 PID Controller Inquiry

I've been thinking about using this for small batches no more than 3 gallons with the 1650w element. I know it will take a little more time to heat up to mash temp then to boil, but I'm thinking it will get to temp eventually. At least then I can brew small batches indoors this winter. Any...
