I got my stuff at kegconnection but $70 seems high for a 2.5. Is that because it was new and not refurb like the 5 gal ones? That would make sense.
Either way, kegconnection can get you a full kit without the keg. I'm sure you probably need the hoses and fittings etc. those things add up. I...
I think, and I'm just guessing, that you condition at room temp to let the yeast react with the dextrose to carb your bottles.
That said, if you don't need to carb bottles, you're ok to condition in a keg?
I know you've already ordered but I'm just going to join the group (and you) in saying that kegconnection and Ben did an awesome job!
I ordered (what I think of) a highly customized 2 keg setup.
Can't wait to build it this weekend!!
Haha. I know the feeling. What'll be funny is I'm sure I'll get a similar look from my wife who is expecting in 2-3 weeks. Of course, my first beer was a porter for her. I'm really REALLY excited about the IPA that should be ready to keg in 2 weeks!! :) mmmmm And more so my first AG batch that's...
There shall be more pics for sure!
What's a little sad is I don't know if my first brew is ready for the keg yet or not.
It should be fun either way. Maybe I'll just have to keg it a little early... :)
Kegconnection dropped off a package for me last night. Weighing in at 41 pounds... :)
My keg setup is here! Got a couple kegs, a tower with two Perlick taps (one creamer), Taprite double reg, and CO2 tank. Right now, the box is sitting on top of the mini fridge it's all going into...
Good point. I'm sure it's possible. I just haven't really had the need yet as I'm doing my first AG batch this weekend.
Depending on how it goes will determine how much grain I need. :)
If I could get to around 30/bag, and get hops at $1 an ounce, I'd be saving about $10/ brew.
We shall...
Wowza. I was wondering how much cheaper grains could get if I bought in bulk. Seems like my local shop has a pretty damn good deal!!
They sell 2 row for $1.10/lb. I think I may just keep buying it there as they have an auto mill I can use and it's about three blocks from where my wife works...
Yea. Didn't realize that. However, I then thought they were required for a cfc. Good to know now that they work well without them. If I go to 10gal batches (not in the near future) then i may want to think about it.
Thanks guys
Wow! That looks awesome!!
At first glance I thought you had a 36% beer. Had to do a second take.
If I built one like that, the wife would probably let me keep it in the house!!
Wow. Thats expensive. Maybe I should have just gone with an IC. oh well. I will have a ball valve as I'm going to use it with a keggle that I'm building.
What challenges do you think I would face?
Thanks!!
I'm excited to try this recipe. I bought the grains and hops for it today and am going to brew it this coming weekend assuming I can get my Keggle ready and get a burner in time.
I'm really excited to try my first AG brew and also am excited to try this awesome recipe. I bought Amarillo...
