    Hop into Easter!

It's probably a very bad sign that I saw an article "Hop into Easter!" and I immediately thought it would be a beer recipe. LOL!

    Beer Miracle!

For sure! I just wanted to stress the MAJOR difference between before and after carbonation. I think most everybody is used to it except us beginners. It's a HUGE difference.

    Beer Miracle!

As a beginner, one thing I realize isn't discussed enough to comfort the beginners as they brew the first batches is the miracle that happens in the first week after bottling. So, I am here to tell you... When you're bottling, you'll be thinking "What is this nasty watery crap!?!" and "How...

    Bringing Costs Down...

Update: 1) currently repurposing New Belguim bottles....not buying. 2) found new online suppliers and shopping and costs dropped dramatically. Those two alone have been huge!

    Thank you!

So, my first real batch (over a gallon..lol) is a SUCCESS! Despite a few worries and set-ups, and despite (I ordered the wrong thing and decided to use it anyway) using wheat malt extract. My "Trappist Wheat" is excellent. Beyond excellent. It's really really good! Thank you to everyone...

    Bringing Costs Down...

Cost only includes ingredients ($40 a batch), Bottles ($40 a batch), and shipping ($20 a batch). I get about 10 32OZ bottles per batch. Hence $10 a bottle.

    Bringing Costs Down...

All great ideas. I am going to try first to increase my batch size. I think I can do that by by as much at a 1/3 right now, as I was brewing conservative at first and didn't want to over do it. The MoreBeer free shipping is a big suggestion. I had not come across them yet. With my average...

    Bringing Costs Down...

I was NEVER of the opinion that brewing my own beer would make it less expensive, but I really wasn't expecting the costs to be so high. Currently, with extract and partial grain brewing, and bottling to 32oz EZ cap bottles, I am seeing a per bottle cost of around $10. Now, I live in the...

    Confused on Priming/Conditioning

Thanks for all the help. I went with the two weeks in the house approach, and will transfer to the 54 basement at that time.

    Confused on Priming/Conditioning

If I have the time, does carbonating at a lower temp give a better flavor?

    Confused on Priming/Conditioning

I just realized my beer was primed with sugar, bottled, and then immediately placed in the "Conditioning Temperature" that my book recommend for the brew. That temperature is 54, and the book recommends 3 weeks. YET, as I read here, I think I may have messed up. Was I to let it sit at...

    Easy, Quick, and Delicious?

I currently have two beers (a trappist and a porter) that should be ready for a gathering of friends in late March. I would like to have one more ready. What is everyone's recommended recipe for a quick easy delicious beer that can be ready in 7 to 8 weeks? -Extract to partial grain only...

    Yeast Not Starting?

As I recheck everything. My yeast is British Ale II. Would that make a difference? https://www.wyeastlab.com/hb_yeaststrain_detail.cfm?ID=141
