I need help figuring out what to brew!

What about a west coast rye amber or a double IPA with chocolate, bourbon, or berries, or a chocolate stout?

    Burner for 10G Batches ...

a propane turkey fryer is the best option....they usually have pegs that are pointing up that help keep the kettle that comes with it from going anywhere...i just took them off with a grinder and it fits any kettle now

    Brew with smoked tobacco??

I dont know if this has been said but why not bake the tobacco to vaporize the nicotine? I know that THC vaporizes at a certain temp thus leaving the weed useless except the smell of it. This might work as this is the concept behind the e-cigs.

    Wort Chiller?

you did the right thing....i have left 2 batches out over night due to malfunctioning chill wizards and everything turned out well....i FINALLY got it out of my head that anything that goes wrong will ruin my beer

letting the water breathe before brewing???

just fill your brew kettle with the hose and spray from high above it to air-rate it...this will get the chlorine out...you can smell it! also just invest in a charcoal filter as justkev has mentioned.

    hot weather brewing

you could also rig up some sort of temporary cooling....put your fermenter in a Rubbermaid container and fill it with water...either add ice to regulate the temperature or come up with some negative feedback control system that pumps colder water in with some sort of float or overflow...

    hot weather brewing

Not sure of your financial situation, but you can build a nice keezer for under 200 bones that would double as a fermentation chamber when not in use.

    Why is it..

I hear you, nothin like brewing on a sabco! here is my keezer! unfortunately I couldnt put 2 soda kegs in the bottom, i need to add another layer of wood so i can add my 2nd soda keg to the compressor shelf.

    This!!

    Why is it..

I went from extract to partial grain and straight to all grain. I built a mash tun out of a coleman extreme cooler that I bought brand new for $30 with a SS braid style filter. All grain method is stupid simple and I have never had a stuck sparge, EVER. My brew days are 3-4 hours during which...

How Close Am I to AG? New Equipment.

I would spend the $30 on amazon and get yourself a refractometer. I did and its so much easier. These things take 1 drop of wort or beer to get a reading.

    My first recipe: pineapple wheat

I am going to try that as well! I am not sure if that is cost effective at the brewery level but we will see

just read, nice!! thats a good lookin mash tun you got there
  17. S

    Why is it..

Although I agree with more time/effort, I must disagree with the price. You can build a mash tun on the cheap, and if you are brewing already, odds are you have a turkey fryer. Mash Tun Coleman 52 qt extreme cooler: $30 Hardware: $15 Turkey Fryer: $10-15 but i dont look down on biab at all!

How Close Am I to AG? New Equipment.

all you need is a coleman extreme 52 qt cooler and some harware. Check out youtube for all the stuff you need. I think i got my coleman for $30, hardware+SS dishwasher braided hose for $15 or so. Really easy to convert! Also you wont need a 2nd burner or propane tank just a 2nd kettle maybe...

    Why is it..

I suppose the efficiency would be correlated to how well you insulate your mashing vessel...I guess in my opinion, why transition when its just as easy and not really that much more expensive to go AG right away.
