    Partial freeze to increase ABV?

Great feedback Thanks. It came up when I tried to quick chill some brew I wanted to show off and forgot about it till it was almost frozen solid. I wondered if the alcohol was trapped in the ice with nowhere to go to separate. So I wondered if anyone in a homebrew set up tried it and what the...

    South Florida Hop Growing

Yes I water with the garden every other day. I have coffee grinds on them and they are in a mound about 2 to 3 inches deep.

    Partial freeze to increase ABV?

I was wondering. Has anyone tried to freeze the beer a bit to remove some water and increase the ABV? Does this work? What would you do? Just curious. :drunk:

Planted mine March 25th in Orlando and still nothing. Do I need to keep them wetter? More mulch? Can I uncover them to check on them?

Sanitizing help! Is this process ok?

I brew with my son. He didn't like the foam so it was more for his head than for any good reason. I don't rinse the Carboys or bottling bucket and he got over that. Baby steps. :ban:

Sanitizing help! Is this process ok?

I also don't use the dishwasher as I understand if you have a "Jet Dry" or such it will kill the head on the bottled beer. I soak in warm water and brewers wash overnight, brush with the bottle brush, jet wash with forced water. Then place them on a bottle tree till bottling. The other thing...

    South Florida Hop Growing

So how long should it take to break ground if I did everything right? I know it is first year so I'm just in a rush. I have rope ready to sting up to the second floor. I can't wait.

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

I pre warm my cooler with the water from my HLT as it comes up to temp. About 10 minutes works well. I use a sealed indoor/outdoor probe to monitor the temperature in the closed cooler. After I’m sure I don’t have any dry spots in the grain I leave it closed. I have never had a...

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

I use a $2.00 shower head in my 10 gal cooler. It's called a Sparge-O-Matic. Works great with a pump. I can clear the wort before transfer very easy. :ban:

    Another One Comes Crawling Back

Do you think I can take flat Coke and make it hard? What yeast would I use? I think it would carb in the bottle.

IMHO, Go for it! Then make a batch with the original and compare it. In the end you will have beer to drink. :tank:

    My bottling adventure

If she can break a red plastic capper I would be careful of what else you let her handle. Yikes! I keep two cappers just in case.
  18. CourtHouseBrewing

    Probably a dumb question haha.

IMHO, I think you will be too tight on head room. With 3 to 4 gal of water and 12 to 13 lbs. of grains and adjuncts it will be too tight to sparge. I use a shower head in the top of a 10 gal cooler to sparge and it works great. I think a 5 gal would be filled to the top with no room to sparge...
