What came in the mail for you today?

Received the second kettle last week. It can boil 4.5 gallon in 40 minutes. Perfect for my double batches brew day. Put 10g in the anvil and 4.5 in this one, cold water for the dough-in, double mash tun, double 5g batches, not much more work.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Planning on a new trick to brew two batches at once. I just got a second mash tun. I would fill 10 gallon in the anvil kettle and boil five minutes to dissolve the oxygen. Will also boil 3.5 gallon on the side. I'll mash both, while heating a few gallons more for mash out infusion. Then boil...

How do you clean your Floating dip tube and how often?

I remove it and soak it in the keg with the OxiClean along with the dip tube. I also remove the ball lock posts and soak them as well in a separate bowl.

    Ingredient amounts

One one side, you can go and use a full volume mash with no sparge. On the other side, you can have a thick mash and use a lot of sparge water. And there's everything in between. Any is good. All will make beer. Thick mash will be 1 pound of grain per quart of water. You have 13 pounds, so...

Help! heavy banana and clove bready AF hefeweizen

Schrodinger weisbier That's the recipe that made me understand Hefeweizen beers. I brewed both version a few times. What I learn from it is that the fermentation temperature can favorise banana or cloves. You can also favor cloves with step mashing. You can double favor cloves with step mash...

Fermenters - is there anything new??

For the price, the Spiedel fermenters are hard to beat. Fermonsters looks quite great too. I have two fast ferment conicals for ales and a SS Brewtech brewbucket with chilling for lagers. If I had to do it again, I'd still get the brewbucket but I would get two spiedels as i don't really...

    What should I brew next?

Lol I did know there was hops with such a magnificent name! I actually ordered some and it was quite hard to find! Planning on a Irish red ale maybe. Barbarossa means red beard and in French is barbe rouge. Love it. Hope it's good, I see a lot of potential.

New brewer from Canada, Quebec city

Greetings from Montreal and welcome to the madness! I see you went straight to kegging so you must be pretty serious about it. You should look into fermentation temperature control. Thats the best investment you can make for beer. There's a lot of wiggle room for recipes, as you will very...
