    Bare minimum for water analysis/modification?

This sounds like an excellent option. Thanks!

    Bare minimum for water analysis/modification?

Would I need to do anything special to the water after installing a reverse osmosis device?

    Bare minimum for water analysis/modification?

I don't want to ignore water analysis and modification but I also don't want to spend $20 a few times per year to see a snapshot of how my water chemistries are at a given time and day and then balance that given time and day with modification knowledge (that I don't have) and chemicals (that I...

    Clarity

I had the same question. So some cloudy beers are cloudy for bad reasons? And some cloudy beers are cloudy but not for bad reasons? I don't care about drinking a pretty beer so I guess I wont worry about trying to make clear beer. :)

is a full body always sweet?

As near as I can gather, if I use grist that produces a fuller body and mash at a higher temp, I'll get a fuller body but is that always going to be sweet? I would like to make a full bodied beer that isn't sweet. :)

    Kansas City, June 13

I'm doing the same thing. :) My next get together is February 2nd, noon to 3pm to brew a German, amber ale. We will also be sampling a fat tyre clone we brewed on December 29th at our first get together. It's in Olathe Kansas if you're interested.

    hidey ho from Olathe Kansas!

So happy to find this forum. I've gotten a toneof great info that has saved me time, money, and made my upcoming brewing processes surly better. I brewed my first batch 2 weeks ago and realized, post-brew, I had no idea what I was doing. The users here are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I...

Does any one use their mash tun as a bottling bucket too?

Thanks for the info. I had the same question. I completely agree. Every time I've adjusted or cleaned by mash ton spigot or filter, I find a piece of grist and drops of wort. I can clean it and get old junk out and then clean it again and old junk pops up again as if I hadn't already cleaned it.

    Easy, actual SRM measure?

Okiedog thanks so much, I looked all over for something like a glass SRM chart. I looked all over ebay, all over Amazon, google shopping and general net google searches and found nothing. This will definitely be better than my downloaded, printed on all purpose copy paper, SRM chart. :)

    Easy, actual SRM measure?

I have my estimated prediction of SRM based on the grist I chose, but in 2 weeks when my brew is finished, how can I measure my actuale SRM? I've heard that with expensive, high-tech lab equipment you can do it with complicated processes. I printed an SRM chart and looked at a small amount of...

    Trying to make Ayinger Weizenbock

Thanks Lefou, I'll definitely swap that cars out for Munich. Should I always do a protein rest or only when recommend in relation to specific grist?

    Trying to make Ayinger Weizenbock

Thanks! Holly molly, Bavarian VS. Belgium; lol, they both start with B so I just kept going down the ingredient list. Ok, based on the recommendations, how about this one? Maybe close to Ayinger Weizenbock? SRM 15, ABV 7%, OG 1.072, FG 1.018 8 lbs. German Wheat Malt 5 lbs. German Pilsner 1...

    Trying to make Ayinger Weizenbock

Hello all, I am hoping to brew a Belgium amber ale with a taste as close as possible to Ayinger Weizenbock. I have tried 5 of 6 different weizenbocks and for me, none of them are as good as Ayinger's and I can't find a clone recipe. I modeled this based on general weizenbock recipes and I'm...
