StarSan (ChemSan) just mixed yet PH is bad

Hi, I bought a 5 litre bottle of water to mix my StarSan(ChemSan) in 10ml of starsan to 5 litres of water. That lasted 3 batches in the space of around a year or 2. I checked the PH level today and it was at 4 so I emptied it out (apparently it needs to be under 3.5 to be effective) I...

    3 weeks bottle, somethings wrong

Hi, My lager beer has been bottled at 24 degrees for 3 weeks now. The colour is quite dark. The taste is not that of commercial beer, it tastes I guess a little yeasty? or is green the word? The head fizzed out quickly. I thought 3 weeks it was supposed to be good?

    Fizzy beer, no head

Hi, I have done a batch using Simply Ritchies Lager kit. I have stored my bottles at 24 degrees C for 2 and a half weeks now. I put one of the bottles in the fridge for 48 hours and tried it tonight. There was a loud pop (swingtop bottle) and as I poured it had a slight head which fizzed out...

    Co2 in southampton (UK)

Hi, What is the best way for me to get co2 canisters around the Southampton area in the UK? (Whiteley specifically) It will need to be delivered straight to my house (and collected from for refills). Or could I just buy from amazon or ebay? What do you all recommend? Could I perhaps use those...

SG slightly different to FG, this okay?

Very very helpful information, thank you. I have been doing a lot of research into kegging and using pressure barrels for beer. I would very much like to add a tap and just pour beer that way (and also not to have to clean all of these bottles). I understand I would most likely need a fridge...

SG slightly different to FG, this okay?

https://brew2bottle.co.uk/pages/ritchies-simply-beer-kits-instructions It says on my instructions to store bottles in a warm place for 5 days and then move to a cool dark place and leave until clear. I don't exactly know what leaving to clear means, how will I know when it is clear. It does...

What do you guys recommend I do to store my bottles for secondary fermentation etc..? What degrees and for how long? Dark or light? The instruction say to store in a warm place for 5 days and then a cool dark place. Does not tell me temperature though

SG slightly different to FG, this okay?

I have just done the bottling today, I may have put 2 extra carbonation drops in a few bottle of 500ml. I just wonder how bad that is, could that cause bottle bombs? Also the carbonation drops packet says 1 drop for 350ml and 2 for 500ml, but how many for 750ml bottles? 3? or still 2? I put 2...

SG slightly different to FG, this okay?

So about the yeast clean up.. I check for final gravity and find its 1.007 lets say. So it has been 1.007 for 3 days. The first day it was 1.007 would also be considered the final gravity? So would'nt that mean the 3 days after that day would have already been the yeast clean up process?

SG slightly different to FG, this okay?

Seriously appreciate all the help my friend, I can finally understand it all better now. Quick question just to make sure: Since it has been 1.007 for 48 hours now, should I bottle tomorrow if it is still at 1.007? Because then that would have been 3 days of 1.007. But you have also all been...

Would'nt it be better to get the fastest yeast possible then?

Thanks, good to know. I will make sure not to buy Belgian yeasts then lol

SG slightly different to FG, this okay?

If it really was the final gravity at 1.007, would it still be 1.007 in 2 more days time? Would I need to do another hydrometer test? Or once I know the final gravity, can I just bottle it straight away even if I left it for an extra week without checking the gravity again? Because if it does...

SG slightly different to FG, this okay?

I guess I do not then.. If it reached final gravity I am assuming it will always stay at that final gravity number, even if I checked again a week later?
