    Best Pink Floyd Song

Now that you mention it I believe that's correct. Still one of my favorites though. I have to ask, am I the only Pink Floyd fan who will actually pull for the Final Cut and regard it was the best? And for those of you who want to be picky and call it a Roger Waters album, I feel I should inform...

    Is One Degassing Session Enough?

Well this isn't so much a "fruit wine", I used a jelly/preserve mixture as my base. Does that still count? What exactly can go wrong with a wine (or beer) if it gets "oxidized"? Do you think I could skip degassing altogether? I should mention that when I bottle the wine I will not be "corking"...

    Is One Degassing Session Enough?

Hey all. I have a 5GAL batch of strawberry/grape wine I'm thinking about bottling within 2 weeks, but I detect a bit of carbonation in the smell. I have not "degassed" it and quite frankly am not sure how to go about this process. I need to know, if I add a a bit of stabilizer and whip if...

    Is Beer Guaranteed to Raft?

Thanks for your reply. I would like to experiment with oaked beer sometime in the future. I prefer the rich, dark beers they would best pair with, so I think it would be fun. If it does end up taking several months I think it's worth it have an improved product in the end. Thanks again!

    worst possible craft beer names

I realize this thread is worst possible craft beer names, but could I possibly bend the rules just a tiny bit and post a worst possible wine name? Here goes: The Wine of Death; like my last post this is a real wine from Portugal featured on an episode of Booze Traveler. The wine is bottle-aged...

    Is Beer Guaranteed to Raft?

UPDATE: Bottled the beer in question. Obviously it needs to carbonate but it proved palatable even at bottling. Batch is clear and free of rafts and sediment. Thanks for all the feedback and for informing me that I can cut out the secondary stage. I just might be experimenting with that very...

    Is Beer Guaranteed to Raft?

Oh no, in seeking advice I fear I have stirred up a heated debate. And this isn't even the politics section. Look, the ONLY beer I have ever brewed is from Brewer's Best extract kits. I follow the instructions to the letter and they say to utilize a secondary, so I did. I have never attempted to...

    Is Beer Guaranteed to Raft?

Okay, thanks for the info. For those of you who are concerned with infections, I really don't worry about it. I consulted both the web and my LHBS and yeast rafts are normal. Besides, those batches were already bottled and consumed that they came out perfect. It was also my LHBS who told me I...

    Is Beer Guaranteed to Raft?

Hello brewers. I'm seeking advice because I've experienced what may be a HUGE delay in my brew. I need to know if beer is guaranteed to produce yeast rafts in its secondary stage. I'm working on a brew now that sat in the primary for about 4 days and has been in its secondary stage for nearly...

Making Traditional rice Wine. Cheap, Fun, and Different

Thank you for the info. It will be very nice to cut out the milling step out of my brew process. I've never tried the recipe in this thread, either. You see, my brew equipment is fairly new and nobody else in my circle wants to tolerate sake (I of course love it). Anyway, I agreed to push the...

Making Traditional rice Wine. Cheap, Fun, and Different

Unfortunately, no. I have not had the pleasure of brewing the recipe on HBS, but I plan to purchase the kit sometime within the next 1-2 years. Until then I'll settle for buying grocery store rice and grinding it myself in a food processor. Apparently the only other thing I need are the yeast...

    Best Pink Floyd Song

Okay, I'm going to dare to go with some very unconventional picks here: a few of my favorite Floyd songs are The Hero's Return, Not Now John and Two Suns in the Sunset on "The Final Cut". I feel that record is by far one of the best albums ever made. It is very dark and quiet, and covers the...

Making Traditional rice Wine. Cheap, Fun, and Different

Oh yes, I know. Thank you. I've been a sake enthusiast for some time now. I do know of a website dedicated to the homebrewing of authentic sake. http://homebrewsake.com/home/ It offers an ingredient kit, instructions, and about two years worth of astute articles on all things sake. It's just the...

    Cherry Bomb Mead

Okay, thanks. I thought it over and I probably will go ahead with the vodka extract. I don't want to toy with the recipe, it sounds too good. My equipment is tied up in a batch of strawberry/grape wine now, but I'll be starting the mead later this year and will be sure to update. Thanks again!

    Are Preserves Comparable to Jelly/Jam?

This is all great information, thank you! I certainly didn't have any problems with failed fermentation. In fact, my wine was kicking like I've never seen before. In the primary stage, it foamed the entire time and made a loud sizzling sound when I stirred it; and it continued to foam two weeks...

Making Traditional rice Wine. Cheap, Fun, and Different

That sounds good, thank you for sharing. I'm certainly going with this recipe now, it does seem much more like the real product. How many of the Asian yeast balls do you recommend for 5 gallons? Also, it is possible to start the rice inside a straining bag in order to ease the pressing process...
