    my keggle build pics

Great progress. I have cut the tops off of 3 kegs that I found online. I am preparing to drill holes for the thermometer, ball valve, and sight glass on my brew kettle. How did you determine the height for your ball valve? I have always assumed I would put it as low as possible, but it looks...

    Help me build my brewrig

If quick disconnects are easily cleaned, that may be a good choice, thanks for the suggestion. What I am stuck on mostly is what I will need on each vessel. I know I will need ball valves, temperature gauges, and sight glasses. I'm just not sure if I need them all on each vessel and this is...

    Help me build my brewrig

Hello. I have started assembling the parts to build a brew rig but I'm not sure what else I need. I have the angle iron to build the frame. I also have three 15 gallon kegs, a jaybird stainless false bottom and one burner. I would like to use tri-clover fittings for ease of cleaning. As...

    Hello from Melrose, MA

I have only one burner which I use for my extract brews. It is a 220,000 BTU burner and I love it. It has cut down my brewing time tremendously compared to brewing on an electric stovetop. My wife had bought it for me from www.homebrewing.org for a christmas gift. I've got some stainless valves...

    Hello from Melrose, MA

Thanks DR, I could use a steer in the right direction. I have accumulated 3 kegs with the tops cut off, a stainless false bottom and some angle iron to construct my stand. Being an extract brewer for so long, I am not all that familiar with all grain so I'm a bit unclear on where to go from...

    Hello from Brighton, MASS

Welcome from Revere MA. I was thinking of a similar brew. I recently brewed a Pliny the Elder and a Mexican Cervesa (seperately). I thought it may be good to hop up the Cerveza but hadn't tried it yet. How did it come out??

    New England Temps

I live in Revere MA and brew all summer long. I just put the fermentation bucket into a bigger bucket (keg cooler) and fill it with water. On the hotter days, I keep frozen bottles of water handy to dump into the water bath to drop the temps a bit. Hope this helps. Keith

    Hello from Melrose, MA

Hello from Revere MA. It's good to see fellow homebrewers in the area. I would be interested in joining a local group. I'm sure it would be helpful to be able to pick the brain of other homebrewers in the area. I have been brewing extract kits w/ specialty grains for a while now and am...

    apfelwine recipes

Thinking of making my 1st batch of Apfelwein. Can I bottle this stuff in beer bottles with caps, or do I need wine bottles & corks?

    Brew Garage, Finishing

You can find a tintable mildewcide paint at your local Home Depot or Lowes. I think it is put out by Killz or Zinzer. This will not be the cure all. You will still need some sort of ventilation, but it will help once the ventilation is in place.

    Fridge turned kegerator foaming excessively

So I have a refridgerator that I turned into a 2 tap kegerator. I have had 2 other double batches of beer in it and they poured nicely. This time around, I have a Pliny the Elder clone and a mexican cervesa that are both foaming excessively. The fridge is in a 3 season uninsulated enclosed...

I have three brand new kegs with the tops cut off. Where should I go from here?

I am in the same boat. I have 3 kegs with the tops cut off and the will to make a system but I don't know enough about systems to build one. I scored some free slotted angle iron which I can bolt together. Keep your eyes on Craigslist for some or even bedframes which you can cut to size and bolt...

Brewing AHB Pliny the Elder w/ a question

I went to AHB's website and di a search for BrewVint Alcohol Boost. Under the product listing, it says to add it during the boil when adding the other sugars & adjuncts. That is what I ended up doing even though I had no idea if it was correct or not. Thanks for your input anyway.

    Stone Ruination Ale

My wife had a conference in San Diego last year. Being a huge Stone fan, I HAD to go with her. Such a great beer town. I visited many breweries while out there and we went to Stone 3 times. I am so jealous of the people who live out that way. Boston has great beer, but its got nothing on San Diego.
