    Clearity on some kegging questions

The pressure regulator needs to be set at the correct pressure (based on temp at time) for when you are actually carbonating the beer. Once you cool to serving temps you will have to reduce the pressure for your tap and line length. It take my beer about 1.5 weeks or more to passively...

    Canadian Roll Call!!

Watch out... taxes are very high up here and cost of living is as bad or worse than even LA.... Then you can not get good access to parts or good beer! I am an X Newport Beacher who lives north of Toronto by 1 hour. This place makes SOCAL look cost effective...

    Batch Sparging Wait Time Questions!

I do a 10 minute re circulation after I stir for about 1 minute and have above average efficiency. If you can not recirc I would advise a good long stir then a wait, then a vorlauf. Cheers

Need help currently brew in progress. How to determine FG with boil down

In BeerSmith go to tools then click on boil off tool. Here you can play with the various outcomes you can have based on the starting volume. More beer correct gravity, correct volume, wrong gravity. Also since you are having some issues take a look at the dilution tool. Knowing that is there...

Need help currently brew in progress. How to determine FG with boil down

To get to 1.100 you will have to boil off 1.64 gallons....but... that leaves you with 2.75 gallons I think. Or to get to 2.5 gallons you will end up with 1.110 wort. It is impossible for me to calculate your boil off rate or know it so I would recommend starting the boil and trying to...

    Well hello there, BrewTalk.

I started off as a student in an engineering school. Junior design project was a nano, senior design project was a revision to the nano brewery, then 15 years later I am still brewing. Need help currently brew in progress. How to determine FG with boil down

To help we need to know a gravity reading and temperature right now. Else we do not know how much to boil off to hit your target gravity or if you can even make it. Send it and I can do the math quickly.

    Burnt Wort

Yes. Use HERMS. Way less chance of a gotcha. I have had it happen using RIMS and thus went to HERMS.

Looking for Oktoberfest recipe thats has been tried

I have used the 820 in the past a few times. I am not sure what put me onto the bock lager but I believe it was one of the Jamil style podcasts or something. Since I have tried it I have not went back. My original recipe 10+ batches ago was based upon the information in Designing Great Beers...

So where are all of these cheap spa panels in Canada?

Just picked up a 50A "Spa Disconnect Panel" or "Panel De Desconexion Del Spa" at Home Depot in the Seattle area, the brand name is "midwest" and they use a duck for their logo. The SKU is 84567 20655 on the box, and I would think this is the same anywhere. I will post a few pictures on my...

    what's easier: HERMS or RIMS

HERMS is much more user friendly and less prone to gotchas on brew day. HERMS +1 in my opinion. See my link below and read the 6 pages. Photos included... I think you will understand HERMS better after that.

Double Batch with 30 Amps - HEX in BK for strike water?

I am not sure your setup. Assuming you are boiling in a keg conversion. I would guess if you made a heat ex changer that was wrapped on the outside of the boil kettle (not in the liquid) your theory would work out. You would get enough heat transfer from this to get what you want in the HLT...
