    Building Two-Element 120V System

I have already committed to using the Auber enclosure with the heatsink that attaches at the top - I think there's only room for one SSR to mount to that heatsink. I am going to switch back and forth between 3gal and 5gal batches - I have read that a 1500W element is more than powerful enough to...

    Building Two-Element 120V System

I decided to use a 2-pole contactor - the hot lines from each supply will go to the contactor, and I will power the coil with the hot of the first supply, which will run through an NC E-stop. If I got the E-stop, the inputs of the contactor are the only points that see voltage. Bobby, the more...

Wire from RTD Sensor Connector to PID

I bought a preassembled probe from the Electric Brewery so that I didn't have to mess with it. I guess I missed that wire when I placed my order with Auber - but I have access to plenty of 22 or 24AWG wire at work. Thanks for the tip Doug. That makes sense, but I wouldn't have made sure of that...

Wire from RTD Sensor Connector to PID

Does it have to be telephone wire? Or can it be like 22AWG stranded copper wire?

Wire from RTD Sensor Connector to PID

What type of wire is recommended to connect the pins on a panel-mount XLR connector to an EZBoil's terminals? Soldering is required. I'm assuming lowest resistance is best. Thanks

    Contactor pole wiring question

I have heard that it is in fact dangerous to connect a neutral wire on a 115V supply through a contactor or have it fused. The neutral line should be the return for voltage from line - if you break the neutral connection, you risk leaving charge in the system. Anyone else with electrical...

    2 loop 120v build

Thanks, Doug. So you decided to use the e-stop to cut off power inside the panel inside of power to the panel?

    2 loop 120v build

Do you have the wiring schematic for your controller? Trying to figure our how to ground the system inside the panel (1 ground?) and how to safety proof it.

Dual 2000W 120V Recirculating eBIAB Build

Does anyone still have the wiring diagram for this build? Thanks!

    Building Two-Element 120V System

The resident electrical guy (don't remember his name, I'm sure there are multiple) on this site had drawn up multiple schematics where he used an e-stop to return voltage to ground with a fuse and current-limiting resistor to trip the GFCI receptacle/breaker. I believe the purpose of this was to...

    Building Two-Element 120V System

I am working on a wiring schematic for a two-element system that utilizes two separate 120V power supplies. Each will come from a GFCI wall receptacle. The EZBoil I am using will control the second element with the built-in relay, per Auber's instructions. One question I am running into is this...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

It may differ for others based on the water pressure of the supply as measured at the nozzle. Bobby, will you let us know when your design is up for sale?

Best material for top of stand

What about plywood with some sort of clearcoat (or non-clear) that provides some waterproofing?

    Best Kettle Port Configuration

Yeah, I'm planning on bag only for now.

    Best Kettle Port Configuration

@MX1 thanks for the reply. My plans were similar to your layout, except that I think I can get away with my mash return, steam condenser, and whirlpool arm all utilizing the same 1.5" TC port, since none of them are needed at the same time.

Best material for top of stand

I am inheriting some 80/20 from work and am planning a small stand for a one-vessel eBIAB system. What are some good, cheap, heat-resistant materials for the 'counter-top'? Thanks

    Best Kettle Port Configuration

I have not ordered anything yet. I am trying to figure out if I can make the SpinCycle removable - that way I can use the upper 1.5" TC fitting for 1) recirculating the mash, then 2) the steam-condensing device during the boil, and then 3) the SpinCycle arm for whirlpooling. I was thinking about...

    Dry Hop Genius?

I feel like I just had either a brilliant idea, or a completely idiotic idea: I have had problems with dry hopped beers clogging up my beer lines when I keg. But it always clogs at the poppet. Is there any reason to install a poppet in the line out fitting? This would let me cold crash in the...
