    Autumn Seasonal Beer Punkin' Ale

This happened with my batch of this recipe last year. The batch was still pretty good, but it had solventy/hot alcohol off flavor. This year I checked my gravity after 5 days. it went from 1.064 to 1.012 QUICKLY...

    Autumn Seasonal Beer Punkin' Ale

Took a gravity reading yesterday. It was already down to 1.012. I racked to secondary to try to keep it at 1.012. My batch last year fermented all the way down to 1.008. My question is, if you are recommending people skip racking to secondary all together, how do you keep the batch from...

    Wye viking hops

It was listed as weak in vigor in Oregon, WA and good in England. Perhaps our climate in MN is closer to the climate in England. I do know this much, next year these are going take off like gangbusters! They smell amazing and I cant wait to brew with them this weekend. I will be sure to post...

    Wye viking hops

After drying them out we had just over 8 oz.. Enough to make a couple runs of this recipe, or step it up to an IPA. Next year there will be TONS more. **pics were taken from a phone and a shaky hand**

    Wye viking hops

Updating up an old thread here.... I finally had a small harvest of Viking Hops. I planted the crowns at friends house last summer. They didn't do much of anything last year, but were given a pretty late start (mid-July). This year they got more established, and even yielded a small harvest...

    Autumn Seasonal Beer Punkin' Ale

Just brewed a double batch of this last night. Followed the recipe to a 'T' except I only used 1 lb. of Rice Hulls. Recirculating the mash got a bit sticky at times, but it was not too bad. Post boil volume was 11 gallons. OG 1.064. Super stoked.

Bottling Cider off of a Keg

good to know there is success with this method. I'd like to use the gun and avoid priming and carbing in the bottle. I hear Cider's can be dicey when done that way. I will try again with my next two kegs..

Bottling Cider off of a Keg

2.5 volumes 3-4 psi bottles were NOT chilled Thought about the bottles not being chilled right away. However, this has not been a problem when bottle filling beer.

Bottling Cider off of a Keg

I recently fermented 15 Gallons of cider in 3 different corny kegs. My idea was to carb them up in the keg and use my beer gun to fill bottles. My thought was this would help me to avoid bottle bombs created by priming the cider with more juice concentrate or priming sugar. My problem was...

    Great Lakes Hops

Just did some serious trimming. Cut everything back about 2.5 feet off the ground in order to protect the pepper plants I have growing from the prickly arms and leaves, and also to bring in more light. So pumped to see these ones cone out! gonna need a cable rope next year!
