That is SO GREAT about eating there, the waitress wouldn't show up at your table pretty much unless you asked her to, and the check? You had to ask for it otherwise it was just assumed you were sitting around enjoying yourself, having some drinks, whatever. You were NEVER rushed to leave like...
I'd just fill a bucket with some oxiclean and hot water, and let that bad boy soak for a while, couple hours, couple days, whatever, till you need it, then rinse good, maybe a couple squirts of sanitizer, and have at it.
I have an AG Dopplebock from Rebel (or was it BMW) and I have 2 extract kits with specialty grains coming from Northern Brewer, both stouts, one dry one irish, if they get here today or tomorrow I'm gonna brew one of those Sunday, else it'll be the Bock.
Yeah that's what I'm afraid of, I'll just bottle it in small bottles, drink one every two months or so and when it gets good, I'll probably be on the last bottle :D
Yeah it's not "that" hard, the big issue is just working with that much darn water! It was all my stove could do to get it hot enough.
Longer mash time is a common practice, I have read about people doing 90 minute mashes a lot. As for sparging my understanding is that at the higher sparge...
Well if I BUY beer it's usually higher end stuff that runs $10-13 for a 4 or 6 pack, so 2.50 a bottle IS actually saving me money or "just about the same". I may never reach the level though where brewing is cheaper than say, buying Michelob Porter (that's about as low end as I'll drink before...
15860 + 3 = 15863 accidentally used 4 pounds of sugar (doh thought it was a 2 pound bag) and ended up with an insane 1.114 SG hopefully the Lavlin 1118 yeast can handle it and take it to a nice and dry .99X OG
Yep I think my last order from NB put me over the $1K mark in total spent actually probably closer to $1300. Lessee, that includes ingredients enough for 8 gallons of welch's wine, 3 gallons of apfelwein, 5 gallons of mrbeer, and 35 gallons of beer, so breaking that into 12 oz bottles is 544...
I'm going to try maybe a special offer, bring me 12 USABLE bottles and you can have 1 bottle back FULL, your choice of what I have on hand. I mean they're just gonna throw 'em away anyway, turns a 12 pack into a 13 pack for free!
I give Pearly Gates what business I can, as long as they're not too much higher than OHBS pricing ($22.99 for a case of 12 oz bottles for example). Gotta support the home team when it's possible.
Here in Huntsville our only LHBS is Pearly Gates, a health food store basically, and the homebrew section would easily fit in a small bedroom so while I like my LHBS they don't HAVE much just the very basics.
Hmm you have some good ideas there. Maybe a buy one kit, get 5% off the second and 10% off the third? (assuming they're in order form largest to smallest price or equal price at least)
To encourage multiple kit purchases :)
