What are you listening to (music!!!) right now? Embarrassing or not... share

Also, hate to hog the thread, Nordeast, but if you like ice cold, dirty, grim as f**k black metal, check out Abyssic Hate. Fairly old, but absolutely ice cold. COLD & LIFELESS. Australian....

They have only one full length: ....Darkness, but an amazing 2song ep just titled Eibon. Also a split w/ a lame band, hangman's chair, but I'm not in love with it. Ever listen to Wolves In The Throne Room? Fauna? Asunder?

Definately check out Eibon. They've ruined metal for me. Never heard anything like it. The Best Crushing Black Doom out there. They're from Paris, but beware the international superband that share the same name. They SUCK! I truly hope you can find Eibon: Entering Darkness, tho. You'll thank me...

Never been so discouraged about homebrew (need some encouragement)

Word up. I figure that's how anything worth a damn gets up and running. Start small. Cheap. Improvise. Develop a style & technique. But like DOug? says, making sure you have a good healthy clean ferment is all that really matters. I'm sure youre using enough good yeast, but are you repitching...

    Just Skimming The Surface

Perhaps I've made too many soups and stocks in my life, but I instinctually skim the scum off the top of my brew as it gets to boil. I feel that, like a stock, or the world :/ , the scum rises to the top. Tannic, ultra bitter husk material & ****, yknow? Like risidual blood and fat from bones...

Beginner AG Equipment List - help

True. I use one 40qt aluminum pot for HLT, I use it to heat strike water, I drain my mash into a marked 6 gallon bucket as I heat my sparge water, batch sparging here, upon dumping that into the mash tun, I dump the first runnings in the marked bucket into the HLT which is now my empty brew...

    Water Profile toning down hops?

Thanx dude. That's concise & practical information. I add 1.5-2 tsp. burton salts to Portland Oregon water, its very soft, and I'm pleased w/ the results. Still working out the bugs, tho. I'm fairly new to AG brewing, but I love me some hoppy IPAs! What/how much would you add to this profile...

    Dry hopping in a primary.

Whatever you do, weigh those bastards down! I use a broken SS cleaver blade, butter knives, spoons, nuts, bolts, marbles... anything stainless steel. SS is a MUST!!! It's ideal to have your flavor enhancing things like wood, hops, fruit/berries, under the surface. FWIW....
