significant other thinks I have a problem

There is a similar thread on beeradvocate.com. There is a difference between having an alcohol problem and getting into the process of brewing. One can be a health risk, the other a relationship risk. In both cases ask yourself if this hobby is detrimental to any part of your life. Does this...

    Chiller upgrade

I've used a submersible pump in ice water too, but found that the pump would heat the water it was in. It was a tad counter-productive. I'm trying to figure out a better method. I am wasting too much water during the wort-chill. Any suggestions? Thanks. Susie

Update on why I've been MIA

Yooper; So sad to hear of the loss of your dad. Dads are special to us daughters so the loss can be so much harder. I used to caddie for my dad when I was 10 years old and that started my love of golf. Every time I am on a golf course and smell the grass, pick up a club, or enjoy a beverage at...

Autumn Seasonal Beer Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale (AG and Extract versions)

OMG. A pumpkin ale that tastes like pumpkin pie! Yuri, thanks so much for this recipe. I cracked one open over the weekend after 2 weeks in the bottle and it is great. I can see pairing this with a grilled pork tenderloin or a grilled ham steak. :mug: Susie

Boiling with finished beer instead of water

Hmmm. The alcohol will boil off as mentioned; before you added anything you would have a >1.000 gravity and the gravity would increase as the beer stock came to a boil; hop aroma/flavor would intensify; the original yeast would die. I think you would be boiling your extract in thin extract. What...

Will switching to AG alleviate that "homebrew" taste?

I have read the thread and did not realize how prevelant the homebrew taste is. I will monitor my own brews. For this as I progress into AG. Thanks for the education. :mug: Susie

Will switching to AG alleviate that "homebrew" taste?

With all due respect to the OP (sincerely), what is troubling you about the homebrew taste? We all make homebrew primarily, I think, to get away from the monotonous taste of commercial beers. It is one of the ways we express creativity and should be proud of what we create (I know you are). Home...

    Bad Commercial Beer

I had a Yuengling (sp?) lager last week and it had a solvent-like taste to it. Are my taste buds now sensitive to commercial brews since drinking my own homebrew? Oh no...not that! ;) Susie

Hi everyone, especially all the Female Brewers out there!

Hi, Dan; Too new to try an Imperial Stout. I think I'll get my first AG under my belt first. That may be Yuri_Rage's Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale. It's gotten great reviews. Susie
