    Oatmeal Stout (AG) recipe Critique

Finally got a chance to try this brew, I did go with the crystal 60 over the 120, but I did stay with the 2 oz of fuggles. Also, I didnt weigh the oats, but I put half of one of those big things of quaker oats in there, and they are 2 lbs, 10 oz, so I probably had closer to a pound and a half...

    American/Pale Wheat?

Amarillo will do very nice in the type of wheat you're going for. FWIW, I love a "pale" wheat like that too, Simcoe is also a very good hop for what you're going for. The nottingham yeast is a good choice, when I made mine I went with a US-05 and it was very good, very light and crisp. If you've...

    Shredded Wheat (cereal)

Not to get off topic, but if not shredded wheat, what about wheaties? I know its just the wheat version of cornflakes (mentioned earlier) but I have always been curious about the breakfast of champions.

Can I Take My Keg on the plane?

I'm already in phoenix, staying for a week or so, and have a rental car so I was just doing some craigslist slumming and happened to run across a couple kegs on the cheap. I think i'll just cut the top off and get a 18x18x24 box, should fit perfect and come in under americans size and weight...

Can I Take My Keg on the plane?

That's what I'm thinking, I'm gonna have to get some tools to accomplish this, but I do work for a large construction company so I should be able to find something!

Can I Take My Keg on the plane?

Well I'm in phoenix right now and was just looking on craigslist. There seems to be much more empty 1/2 bbls and at a good price than I can find in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. Does anyone know anything about airport security or airline rules......could I put my keg in my checked luggage? Can I...

    Bacon Vodka

Tried the bacon vodka when I was at olllllo's place. I've got to say it was pretty good! The bacon flavor is very noticeable but not overpowering. Not salty, but somewhat smoky. It would be very good to sip at breakfast or with a filet mignon. I think I agree on using cheap vodka. I can't see...

American Pale Ale Kona, Fire Rock Pale Ale (AG Clone)

Tried this recipe, its almost a dead ringer! The only difference is that Kona's is hazy, mine is not. (and from what I see in your picture, yours too)

    In Phoenix - Selection Overload!

+1 On That. I had 2 or 3 of them, and the Raj, and the oatmeal stout, and.......I mean, I am traveling on expenses! Also, on a sidenote, the waitress might have been one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. She kinda looked like Heidi Klum, only hotter, and serving me beer.

Can't remember the name of it, it was close to Four Peaks and Brewer's Connection. I just got here today, will be here until the 20th or 21st. I'll have to check out that tops liquor though, I dont think that was it.

    In Phoenix - Selection Overload!

I'm staying in phoenix for a week or so (close to the airport). I just got here and decided to go to four peaks (heard its pretty good) on my way there I passed this little liquor store and decided I would wait to eat (trying to adjust to the time change). So I stopped in to pick up a six pack...

    Are you crushing too fast?

I use a drill too, reguraly getting around 80% efficiency and never any problems. But I suppose you could get an inverter and a 150 rpm DC motor? Maybe even a variable speed for some more freedom?

What kind of beer did I make??

The chocolate malt? I thought maybe a brown porter. I guess I don't care so much what it is, just that my buddies like to sample (inhale) my brews and always ask me "So what type of beer is this?" I guess I could just say 'Its an Ale', that should get some 'I understand' head nods from...

What kind of beer did I make??

I went to my LHBS yesterday intending to get the ingredients for an American Wheat. I tweaked my old recipe to include some flaked wheat, and the guy was out of flaked wheat, :( so I had to change my plans because I didn't feel like brewing another batch of the same Am Wheat recipe. Anyways...

    Perle / Amarillo APA

I just brewed up an APA with a Perle / Amarillo combo. I used an ounce of perle at 60 minutes, 1/2 ounce of amarillo at 15, and another 1/2 ounce at 5 minutes. I picked the hops based on availability at my LHBS (and the fact that cascade was about $6 an ounce there). Just wondering what you...

    Single Hop Pale Ale Advice

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. Its not really the price of the hops that I'm trying to avoid (they only charge $3.95 for 2 oz) I guess I just don't like to have extras lying around because everytime I open the fridge I see them and have to count the days to my next brewday. :rolleyes...
