    Wild hops

A buddy of mine just got back from Oregon and brought me about a pound of wild hops he picked on a friend's property. Have them in the freezer now. Not dried, except during transport in a paper bag. I'm thinking of making a simple IPA, bittering with Columbus and late hops additions with the...

    Fermentation Chamber, best route

I converted 2 mini-fridges. One I just bent the freezer section down (gently) and added a platform to even out the bottom and a temp controller. The other, I had to add a collar, then added a temp controller. I wanted to be able to ferment 2 beers at different temps. That's just me, though. Have...

    Add Graham Crackers in Beersmith?

I have searched, in vain, for a way to add different ingredients to the design section of BS. Any ideas?? On a lark I'd like to make a graham cracker ale. I have a recipe, but I'd like to enter it into BS in the ingredient section and not as a note at the end. Any ideas??

    Dang OG!!!

For what its worth: The last 3 batches, I missed my numbers also. Grind, good. Temps, good. Times good. Went crazy trying to find out what went wrong. As it turns out, my digital thermometer was reading WAY off. I use only analog ones now, and lots of them.

    Storing hop pellets

Get some plastic soda bottles, install a tire stem in the top. Fill a bottle with hops and pressurize with CO2. Purge twice and freeze. I use a tire nozzle hooked up to my main tank. So easy and works so well.

Tell me about your brew rig

Am about to invest in a brew rig, probably 15-2500 bux, and am doing my due diligence on the internet. Won't be building as I'm too busy/old and would rather spend my time brewing. Flexibility is important, as I like to experiment with different brews. I would appreciate input from those of you...

Drank the hops flavor out while dry hopping?

Don't be afraid to re-dry hop in the keg. It seems the hop layer stratifies.

    Whats the IDEAL fermentation fridge...

I just got a couple of dorm fridges. One was 35 bux and the other free. building a 5 inch collar for one, and the other, older model, I just bent the freezing element down next to the back and my fermenters fit fine, with airlock and all. Cheap and easy plus they stack. Reclaiming my small...

    Delayed dry hopping?

I made a simple IPA with straight Columbus hops and had it kegged for about 5 weeks. When I kicked the old one, I dropped an ounce each of cascade and simcoe in s sanitized bag and dropped it in. Believe it or not, the next day it was extremely palatable and has been steadily improving. The...

    Tea hopping?

I made a hop tea for my last keg of IPA - mostly Columbus. Not bad, quicker that dry hopping, but I thought I had lost my touch. Dry hopped in the keg with 1 Amarillo and 1 Cascade on my latest IPA and I'm back on top. FYI Pat
