I seem to be having an issue with what may be several things. Just wanted to post it here and see if anyone could identify what may be happening. I had thought this to be more wind dmg than anything, but it has started showing up on plants that have not been exposed to any type of winds...

ID tighten the ropes very taught...this helps with wind. Otherwise you just need to make sure and keep the leaves off the ground if you leave them loose.(when they start to climb). If you leave them loose the wind will knock them around and possibly yank the bine from the crown. Cheers

I have the same issue. Ill start harvesting in the next couple of days or so. I use the squish test combined with breaking one open to make sure there is lots of luplin. Squish a cone between your fingers - if it expands back very quickly and is papery in feel then its probably ready to go...

Build a trellis quickly ;) You can take 2 10' pieces of PVC and make a pole. Drill 4 holes in the top and run string from all those holes and anchor it into the ground. Just use about 1" or larger PVC. The hops will climb it. I have about 200 plants and next year I will no longer use...

I think I have read at least 100 times how good cascades grow. But so far out of 11 varieties I have, the Nuggets are the kings of growth. They out grow the cascades litteraly 2 to 1. This pic was yesterday. The trellis is 16' and all those nuggets are about to top it. I have 1 cascade...

Excess humidity isnt much of a problem unless it starts hitting the 80% + mark and stays there for a few hours. After that you need to keep a cloose eye on them, especially if you have several days of really high humidity. Also keep at least the bottom foot stripped of leaves and the crown...

I spray them with a copper sulfate spray. Its a pretty common fugicide so it should be easy for you to find. Be careful about over use of it though as it accumulates in the soil and worms dont care for it.

I live in eastern TN...I have a little over 200 plants. The second year nuggets and cascade are just hitting the 16' mark with burs from top to bottom with about 20" sidearms on the nuggets.The first year plants are anywhere from 1' to 5'. As long as you can keep the downy mildew in check...hops...
