    # of batches before you became real confident?

Only talking about the brew day, not talking about yeast washing, fermentation control, etc., it probably took me about 8-10 batches before I felt truly comfortable and I knew I wouldn't have to look at my instruction sheet during the brew day. I recently took about 4 months off and then brewed...

    What to do for Wedding

I agree with this. After a week or two in the keg you can rack off the sediment and not have to worry about it. If you don't have any extra kegs laying around you can always cold crash and then add gelatin then be very careful while racking to the keg. This gets rid of all my yeast sediment.

leaving town - leave the beers on CO2?

If your system isn't leaking now, it shouldn't leak while you're gone. If you're extra paranoid about it, just disconnect the hoses and let the kegs sit for a week. The carbonation won't change and you can hook it back up and be ready to serve when you get back.

Dumping a wheat beer that's too old?

If you need the bottles then dump it. If not, I would save several and see what happens over time. I love pulling out old beers to see what has happened to them. I've got lots of wheats that are over a year old. They aren't as good as they were fresh, but almost all of them are still worth...

Keezer Build. Another one on the way…

Great, thanks. I'll have to save up, but this is the best looking drip tray I've found.

Keezer Build. Another one on the way…

Thanks, they don't have any prices listed. Do you mind me asking how much you paid for yours and how long it is?

Keezer Build. Another one on the way…

Where did you get the drip tray? I've been looking for one like that.

hop rhizomes planted 2 weeks ago. nothing shooting up yet

I planted my first year Cascade about 3 weeks ago. Nothing was happening for 2 weeks so I dug one up just to see what was going on. It had a few shoots starting so I reburied it and in the next few days I had several shoots sprouting. Nothing yet on my other 2 plants but I'm not going to risk...

Soaking frozen fruit in star san

I agree with this. I've never heated strawberries, but I don't like the flavor it gives when I did it with blueberries. When I use strawberries now, I quarter them, soak them in the fridge for a few days in a zip lock bag with just enough vodka to cover them. Then freeze them and add them to...

    Building a kegerator!!

I think it looks great, the ducks are a great touch. The only thing I would have done differently, if it was mine, was mount the taps a little lower. Since you used the duck heads, your tap handles aren't very tall. If you mount them a few inches down, you can open the freezer separately...

Wow, Triumph looks nice. I was looking at Dock Street Brewing to have dinner one night. Anyone been there?

    Keezer top question

I don't have anything like that tower, but I mounted 3 regular towers on my lid. Just reinforced it with a piece of 3/4" plywood, I used gorilla glue to attach it. Now the lid is solid as a rock, I bet it would hold 100lbs.

    Breweries near Philly

Great, thanks. My wife is an architect so we'll go to PBC, she was already commenting on their building from their website anyway. I was just reading about Earth Bread Brewery, what a unique place. Definitely going to have to go there. My liver is going to be in great shape by the time I...

    Breweries near Philly

Sounds like Victory is a must. I'll go there after Yuenling on my way to the city. I want to go to Straub on the way also, but I think that would be pushing it for time getting to Yuenling in time for their late tour on Fridays. Then on that Saturday, I'm going to go to Yards. Any...

All suggestions are welcome. My record is 4 breweries in one day, good thing the wife was there to drive me home that day. Which ones did you have in mind?

    Breweries near Philly

In a couple of weeks I'll be going to Philly, I'm going to be there about a month and want to hit up all the good breweries and brewpubs. I'm definitely going to Yuenling on the way from Chicago. Yards, Philadelphia Brewing Co. and Flying Fish are also on the list. I also wanted to go to Twin...

    Keezer Build

My taps span about 30", I like the micromatic ones, but wow are they pricey. I've been looking into a DIY option, but I'm not much of a metal worker unfortunately.

    Keezer Build

Not sure the exact size, I got it off CL. It's just big enough to fit 6 kegs and a 20lb tank.
