I got both starters going this morning for my maibock and oktoberfest that I'll be doing next week. Starting small, 2 vials of WL 833 and 2 of WL 820 into 600ml. I'll step both of them up over the next few days. I need 4.5L for the oktoberfest and 11L for the maibock. 11 seems huge!

    fan wiring

I've got one of these sitting around and wanted to us it to cool my coffin in my keezer. It's got three wires, red black and yellow. From what I was reading I guess the yellow wire is for a tachometer. I've got a 12V transformer to power the fan, can I just leave the yellow wire not connected...

I brewed up my wheat today, nothing too special, just our favorite out of the 15 or so that we've brewed. It hasn't stopped raining for a week and my hops are loving it. The cascade is around 3 feet and the centennial has about 6 shoots that have broken ground.

    The 'Keezer' Project

That would be awesome. I can definitely see why you would want it though, I'm almost finished with mine and the top is very heavy! I think I might put some gas shocks on mine.

Yep, cut them out of an old 2x6 I had and put some Plexiglas on it so I can change out the labels. The seventh tap is going to be a dedicated root beer tap, I can't decide if I want to make another tap handle or have something different for it.

    Starting over

I was on a mission today. With company coming Thursday evening I needed to get some serious work done. I started at 9 AM Wed. and (minus a dinner break and one trip to Home Depot) have worked straight through until 6 AM. I started this morning by moving all my fermenting beers into kegs and...

    Starting over

No exact plans yet. I've got a couple of old muffin fans sitting around but I have even thought about the details yet. Once the keezer is done and I get the fermentation chamber finishing touches done I'll get to the stir plate. I need to start cruising HBT and get some ideas. Let me know if...

    The 'Keezer' Project

Any chance you'll say what the new feature was going to be so all us copy cats could possibly steal one last idea from your masterpiece?

Thanks for the welcome, I'm at Cabell but we end up going to St. Mary's and the VA also. I liked the article, hope it opens soon because I've only found one liquor store that has a descent selection. Hopefully soon I'll have a good selection on tap so it won't matter.

    Starting over

I got back into town today from a trip to Harper's Ferry and worked a little bit on it after dinner tonight. It's amazing how fast things come together once the leg work is done. I was able to get the supports for the coffin in place so it can be secured in it's rightful place. I got the...

I'll look for their stout, haven't seen it yet but I'll try and find it. I'm going to have to get to Leo's Carry out, I used to live in Michigan and have been to Jolly Pumpkin, great beers!

    Starting over

It has had the slowest fermentation I've ever had. The white labs english ale yeast slowly bubbled for two weeks and finally crapped out at 1.024, it was supposed to make it to 1.017. I'm not going to worry about it, I'm currently crashing that beer and my two SMaSH beers and kegging them...

So what's the deal with them? They keep posting vague messages on facebook that don't sound good but they won't actually say what's going on. If they're going out of business I'm going to be very disappointed, that pale ale is awesome. And then WV would be down to 1 craft brewery.

    Starting over

Made some pretty good progress today, but this is taking more man hours than I anticipated. I got the front pieces glued on the coffin so I can mount the taps. I also got the skirt on the lid. I ran out of washers so I decided to make second trip to walmart because nothing was stopping my...

I was able to get all my wood cut and sanded. All that's left is to assemble it and stain it.

    Starting over

Frustrating day today. I spent the morning cleaning out our shed and back room because the creek behind our house got very close to flooding our place because of all the rain. Then I spent the afternoon trying to rework my dimensions so that I could avoid cutting more tile. After several...

I got my temp controller wired today, it was surprisingly simple for someone who doesn't have any electrical experience. At temp Cooling-the blue light, fridge and fan all come on. Heating-The red light, fan and the light bulb I'm using for a heat source come on. It's been raining like...

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

I am wanting to just cut the plug off the fridge and wire it directly to the controller. The fridge is never going to be used for anything but this until the day it dies and I've got a fan I took off an old space heater that I can also wire directly easily. Plus I don't have to mess with...

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

I just got my unit in the mail and want to get it wired up today. I want to use this diagram and just wire my fridge directly and skip having the outlets. I don't have any electrical experience, my question is where does the ground from the fridge go? I'm assuming the hot goes to the wire...
