    How do I know when to move to a secondary fermenter?

    Hi, I have a related question. I'm making a pumpkin ale which has a lot of sediment from the pumpkin. I was thinking of using a secondary to help remove some of that. Sound like a winning strategy? Also, the recipe I used dosn't provide fermenting times, and of course, my hydrometer...

    I have about 6 pounds of grain to crush and I don't have a mill. What tool is best for this job? I have a blender and a coffee grinder. Could I use either of those? Otherwise it's just elbow grease... but even by hand, how to you recommend doing the job? Thanks!!
