    Home brewing in Bradenton

In the Spirits is in Sarasota, but they have a limited selection. Beer and Winemaking Pantry is a bit farther away in St Petersburg, but they have a much bigger selection, so it's worth a trip.

    Hello from Florida

Welcome to the board! I'm in Sarasota, so not too far away. Have fun with the new hobby, it'll soon become an obsession...

    Hello from Sarasota, FL

I love the brewing company as well. Good food, good beer. I am embarrassed to admit that I've never taken the tour.

    Vintage Bench Capper

Disclaimer : I'm not an appraiser/restorer, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Usually vintage items aren't better off when people who don't know how to properly restore things "clean them up" as far as market value goes. The right thing to do would be find someone who knows how to...

    Hello from Sarasota, FL

Thank you! First batch is fermenting strong. Already bought another fermenter for my second batch, which I'll brew this weekend.

    Brew Equipment Melbourne, FL

Another idea is to check craigslist and the classifieds in your area (and surrounding areas). You might be able to piece something together that way.

    Hello from Sarasota, FL

I like WoB as well, but I've only been there twice. I've been to Total Wine a few more times than that - mix and match six packs are awesome.

How do you chill your wort?

I live in Florida, and my tap water runs pretty warm (~80F). I use a homemade 25' IC chiller and that got a 5 gallon batch down to 90-ish fairly quickly. I just use a simple ice bath after that, with some bottles of frozen water tossed in the wort (sanitized, of course) and it took it down to...

    Hello from Sarasota, FL

For anyone in the area, my girlfriend and I always hang out at the Cock & Bull pub in Sarasota (on Cattleman) every wednesday night from about 8:30pm-11pm. They have a ton of beer on draft, and excellent pizza. I'd love to see some folks from the forums there. We are easy to spot, just look...

    Hello from Sarasota, FL

I got my kit online. Doing a search on these boards will get you much better recommendations on what kit to get and from where than I can give. There is a homebrew store in Sarasota, called In The Spirits and they sell a decent kit at a competitive price with the online retailers. You also...

    Hello from Sarasota, FL

Greetings! My name is Dennis, a 34 year old computer programmer. I am new to both drinking beer and homebrewing. I never really like beer but about 6 months ago someone put a wheat beer in my hand and I was hooked. Since then, I've been sampling what I can when I can, but it's pretty...

GE 7 cu ft Freezer Power Draw

I have a GE 8.8 cubic inch freezer, and I just went and checked it out. It peaks at about 8 amps when it starts up, and is ~5 amps when running. Obviously, our freezers may vary. Additionally, there should be a sticker on the freezer that tells its electrical requirements.
