    Congratulations Yooper

On reflection, I think I should have put this somewhere in the main general chat area, rather than the members only section... so all our many participants could see it. Rather than creating a duplicate thread, if a Mod agrees, and wants to deal with however you move threads... maybe this one...

I know the owner of BYOB a bit... great guy. The shop is really nice and he is super helpful. They do brewing classes and demo's in-store as well.. and there seems to always be some interesting stuff to sample, if you have time. I live in Marlton, BTW

Thanks, to the star, herself, for popping in... From "two abysmal batches" to the SuperYooper we know and love today. There is brewing hope for us all.

Grognerd, Yes That IS the article in question. I actually bought the hardcopy magazine, from the bookstore, but thanks for pointing us all to the online version. Butterpants, No, more like horror with a dash of comedy... depending on whether the events are happening to you, maybe?

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

Well, I tried it... results were NOT very good. It was carb'ed but there was not much for foam retention and it had a funny off taste tart and a bit sour. I wish I had a better vocabulary to describe it.

Thanks all for the input... I feel much better about the upcoming taste test. As one of our members sig block quotes says (paraphrased here).... I mean, I am gonna drink it anyway, but is it ok? I was mostly concerned about something that might make me sick, but it seems I should be ok...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

Let me clarify, it is already bottled, in one of the large (1 liter?) Mr Beer bottles. I just lost track of this individual bottle, and it has been on a shelf in my garage. The temp in there was mostly uncontrolled (ranging, at a guess from low in the 40's to high in the 80's or so, maybe a bit...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

I recently found a Mr. Beer large plastic bottle on the shelf in my garage. It is from a batch I brewed about 1 1/2 years ago, I believe. Somehow, it got shuffled onto a shelf when we moved and I never noticed it. My question is; not being sure what exactly it has gone through...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

OR - we could reference the Mr Beer instructions - which state a a big [B]BOLD[B] Caution warning "Caution: Do Not open the brew keg lid at any time during the fermentation process; this can lead to beer spoilage" I realize that for more advanced brewers who are using proper sanitization...

Yep, you should be good to go... just let it sit for 2 weeks and "think about itself"

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

I have to STRONGLY recommend NOT opening the lid!!! You would risk goofing up the fermentation process, AND maybe allowing various microbes/germs/foreign materials to get in and contaminate your brew. Leave it closed and use a good flashlight to shine in and see what's going on.

Bottled the above this evening. FG was 1.014, so I guess it ended up around a 4.4% ABV nice gold to copper color and tasted decent on the try I took from the gravity sample. Now to bottle condition a couple weeks and see what I REALLY end up with.

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

I actually went onto Hopville's beer calculus site, and played around with the numbers. Link: http://beercalculus.hopville.com/recipe Basically it came up as just under a pound of DME to get the same OG. Thanks bpgreen for the answer that confirms what I saw there. Now I just need...

That was actually my plan for the next batch... skipping the booster in favor of additional DME. Is it basically a 1 to 1 swap by weight? or more DME needed to equal out?
