    Fermenation Chamber - Upright Freezer

Its like all of these freezers were just copy/pasted from eachother and a few modifications with shape of the top back bit made and a new companies logo slapped on it. Mines a frigidaire from like 1999.

    Fermenation Chamber - Upright Freezer

Its even less of a concern for a keezer, my chest freezer holding 22.5 gallons of beer(4 kegs + 3gal mini keg) holds temperature for hours at a time without turning on. Thermal mass is your friend.

    Check out these sanitary welds

I think its just a matter of preference, either way will work fine. I think some people prefer to do it through hole mounted because its harder for slag to **** up your threads on the inside(i think?) if its not welded properly. I have 10 1/2" holes on my 3 pots and they are all flush mounted...

    Check out these sanitary welds

Im not a welder, but isnt it bad that he actually welded through the pot like that? Every one of my holes is welded but you'd never know it from the inside its baby butt smooth like from the manufacturer. (Yes my pots a bit dirty, sue me!) I mean it will work fine probably, but i dont...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Why would TC sensors be needed for a smoker anyways? With a quality cable you can run up to 250F or so with a DS18B20, well above what i'd think you would smoke meats at. https://www.adafruit.com/products/642

    Fermenation Chamber - Upright Freezer

I use an Upright frost free freezer(what you need) on Craigslist for $100..if your not in a rush i'd recommend that route. I can fit 2 of my 8 gallon Brewcraft buckets in it(i built a small wood stand out of $3 in wood from Homedepot) Fridge/Freezer combo's are nice, but also they take up a...

    Age of RO water?

Im not a biologist or anything, so correct me if im wrong. While what you did may look nasty, in reality you took some super insigificant amount of these cells out of water and grew them up on a dish(the ideal enviornment), its not like that is how much bacteria would have grown up in the RO...

    Age of RO water?

Forever? Im not sure what you think will happen?

    brewpi stopped working

It could yes. I wouldnt submerge the probes, even if they were waterproof they are not food safe for beer. Either thermowell it, or tape it to the side with some foam

    brewpi stopped working

This is usually due to a crappy USB cable being used, and or too long of a cable, and or its in an electrically noisy environmennt(next to your compressor, near a computer, etc) where electrical noise screws up the USB serial communication. It also sounds like your probes are just not wired...

    Keezer issues....is this normal?

Might be worth a shot as a fermentation chamber, put a carboy of $5 water in there and in 8 hours see how far it can move it going full out. I mean once your beer is at its set point, a functioning freezer barely ever even turns on...his will just have to run more. At this point i say run...

Best Kettle for the Money (10-15 gal size)

Their all 18 gauge, gauge = thickness. Their all 1.25mm thick. While i do think generally overall yes a Spike is better "constructed" than a AIH pot, i dont think "i can put weight on it" is really a valid test case for a pot that sits on a burner with liquid on it. if im buying a stainless...

Best Kettle for the Money (10-15 gal size)

You cant really beat the kettle prices at homebrewing.org While i like Spike and the like, honestly i think unless your doing something custom they are a bit overkill. 1-2 welds is pretty standard on a pot from any shop now adays. They all use 18 gauge stainless, so its not like they have...

    Keezer issues....is this normal?

Ive had mine enclosed for a long time, years now and its made it through a house move too. But mine is framed in 2x4's, so my bar "skin" is 1.5" away from the freezer wall..as it is for most people...no one should be gluing wood directly to their freezer. Besides that the entire back of my...

    Keezer issues....is this normal?

The good thing is if it can still cool somewhat, you now have a fermentation chamber?!

    Native Python BrewPi controller

While hes had good success, i have had a few problems that i wouldnt want anyone of you to run into (like getting stuck on cold or stuck on hot). Im hoping its just a probe issue but while hes had no issues with his probes i cant seem to get mine to function properly all the time, but never...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Are you guys having your PI's die using crappy SD cards or putting it somewhere its overheating or something? I ran my original image for well over a year or two before i wiped it to rewrite the install instructions. And its some cheap ****ty Class 4 Kingston 8Gb card i got for $5 on Amazon.

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

What is a normal final gravity people are getting? I'm at about 1.007 which I'm guessing is about where it should be?
