    10 gallon transfers

That's what I use to transfer chilled wort from my garage to the fermenter in the basement.

Similarly with the Avangard Caramel listings: 1858C is light (8L) and 1860C is medium (30L)

I'm another with full kegs and full grain bins. Any time I can get through the summer without brewing is a win.

    Chronic Foam Issue

The seal is where the O-ring is squeezed between the "nipple" and the metal shank. The metal-on-metal is just providing the squeezing force. It's all correct in the drawing.

Yes. So big batches coming up for Club Night. A surge in grain and hop purchases. Frits shudders.

    Let's talk about treating water

It looks like he is assuming that the reader has alkaline water and doesn't do much water treatment. The treatment level will be higher with high water to grain ratios, like BIAB. You are already dealing with it. A pH meter would be a good addition.

DC Area Group Grain Buy #12

I took inventory when I got home yesterday: 220 lbs of malt and DME in my basement. I blame Frits:D I support the proposed 10 lb min and base malt limits. People need to realize you are better off buying your crystals and carafas 8 ounces at a time at your LHBS. You really don't want...

    Entering a competition

That would be 23-specialty. When the new 2015 guidelines come into use, that would be a specialty IPA. Good luck.

6B -Blonde Ale can have fruit and/or spice as a background flavor. Your beer will probably fit that description.

DC Area Group Grain Buy #12

Not involved in this buy, but I need to pick up my grain(11 lbs. Lt. Munich) from last time that Tony has. I'll be late so I can get some 3 Stars beer, but will pitch in if needed.

    Salts in sparge water?

If you are fly sparging, make sure your water has low alkalinity. Acidify your sparge water if necessary. If you are only adding salts for mash pH, then you don't need them in the sparge water. if you are adding salts for flavor, add them to your sparge water as well.
