    Great info! Haven't used S05 before, but defnitely don't want peach notes in a cream, sounds like 65 or so ambient is best.

    I'd agree with old world, especially since you want a cream ale to be clean. Have the ambient temperature in the cooler more like 60-65 and you should get a much cleaner fermentation. Also, I would put a thermometer in a glass of water in the cooler to double check, I know my Johnson Controller...

    Sounds like, and I am not tasting it so it's hard to tell, but it sounds like a brett type infection, which can be musky very early on. If the hydrometer reading was really low, that might be exactly what it is. Doesn't sound like light, and shouldn't be the swamp cooler, lots of people use them...

    My only concern is that you started with a lager, which needs lower temperatures and takes forever to get a taste of (which is not only frustrating, but if you messed anything up you don't find out for a long time). Do you have a place where you can keep the beer cold? If you can, a small dorm...
