    Essential equipment???

Personnaly I wouldn't even consider a 5 gal for a secondary , like said before two 6.5 gal gives much more flexiblity and I have never had a problem using a 6.5 for a secondary. actually sometimes my batches will run a bit over 5 gal then what would you do . ( I do all grain brewing though). If...

    2nd Krausen? the hell.....

I have had the same thing with a dry hop situation, don't worry as they say and just wait it out, it will be fine........

    Dry Hopping Error

I have never sanitized my hops and have never had a problem either. Just pour them in. or put them in before racking to secondary ( that is what I do) good luck and enjoy a nice fresh hop aroma.

    used cornie cleaning

Kornkob you are so right. I do the same thing . I know it has nothing to do with the beer but I like my cornies to look as good as possible. I look for good ones when I buy them from adventures in brewing.com ( they are local for me). but then when I get them home I do scrub them real good...

Being picky about who tatses your beer.

I have been recently thinking of trying to brew a weaker beer, I know I can't drink too many of my own before I'm done (partially due to meds etc), but then I think, why bother? I can enjoy a couple of mine and get the same result they get drinking a 12 or so. I have found that the Club members...

Being picky about who tatses your beer.

I have one guy on the left of me that won't even try my beer, the one on the right loves it. some people are just bull headed about beer and the big guys have them convinced it ain't beer unless its yellow and fizzy, and pretty much like club soda. I didn't drink beer after returning to the...

    Dry hop question

I have dry hopped twice and I never sanitized or steamed my hops. I just threw them in the secondary and let it go for about a week( my usual stay in the secondary) One was a pale ale and the other was a real nice wheat. both done with cascades. I used a bottle washer attached to the...

    Potrable cornie keg fridge

Way cool , I had no idea these were available , I had envisioned making one with 2" foam and panelling and then mounted on a luggage hand truck thing. you know what I mean. and it wouldn't be so expensive, or cool looking, but it would work . oh well back to the fridge I'm empty

Poll: What kind of water do you use

I used to use commercial Spring water , till I realized it was the most expensive thing in my brew. Now I use tap water but I do full boils, and NEVER add to the wort, I just make sure I have enough to start with. My two cents worth

    A cool new post!

I'm with Brewhead, I just do it till it looks and feels right, I tend not to get too technical, it takes the fun and the art out of it.....I make good beer and that is what counts, ok, good beer is what I can drink and keep a straight face whern I offer it to a friend.

    How coarse to crush?

I set my crankandstein at .039 and have had good luck with that. I brew a lot of wheat beers and cream ales ect. I also made a table for mine and used a 1.5" drive pulley and a 12" mill pulley. I'm using an old furnace blower more that turns at 1750 rpm's ( I think that is about standard for a...

    Immersion or counter flow?

I disgree on the pain in the ass to clean statement concerning counterflow chillers. I use one and in fact went right from the stick it in ice water to a counterflow method and haven't looked back. I rinse mine with HOT water right after use and then befoe use also and then I sanitize with...

How much priming sugar per bottle?

Ok fellows you still haven't anwered the question, or do we just put one teaspoon into each bottle ( not reccomended by Palmer)? I would like to do a few bottles not necissarily 12, so I'd like to know how much water boiled with sugar to use . surely someone has done this. Prime tabs aren't...

    My homebrew stirplate

I'm in, that seems like the trick, I have looked at them in mail order catalogs and the price is out of reach. ( well ok I'd rather spend that much on somethng else) But I can make one of these too. I have a lot of the parts as well. and what I don't have I'm sure I can scrounge. I work in an...
