    Yeast question

Good to know, I am researching on what I know so far, this hefeweizen was a NB kit with wyeast# 3068 fermentation temp is about 65-66° so if that helps, any other ideas for flavor changes is a great help ad well :)

    Yeast question

Also I am looking for things that would make a noticeable difference to the flavor that are easily obtained with my little experience ;)

    Yeast question

Sorry for being vague (to me its not because I'm new to this) for instance- the hefeweizen I just did I taste too much banana flavor, maybe not aged long enough? (5 weeks or so from start) But I don't care for that in particular, should I try the recipe with a different yeast strain or look for...

    Yeast question

I am new to brewing and still on extract recipes (mostly from NB, first 2 kits were BB) so far have bottled 3 of the 6 kits I have. So my question is this, is yeast the best or first way to start "tweaking" some of these recipes to my preferences? I feel I am starting to get close to where I...

    First Brew with Wort Chiller

Ok, I just need a brag post! Hubby finally got my wort chiller done, and alls I can say is "I can't believe I did 3 batches without this thing!" It saved me from a miserable hour of an ice mess ;) I'm loving brewing so far and am on a role! Starting another batch as soon as my NB order gets here...

    Noob Question about aeration

Ok so last night I whipped up my 3rd batch which happened to be a hefeweizen. I haven't invested in any CO2 or O2 setups but decided to pull out my electric mixer and give that a shot, I am using a pale bucket and it sounded better than trying to slosh it around with a lid that has a hole in it...

    Noob Question about aeration

Thanks for the great info on the last 2 posts :) gives me a great direction to go in!

    Noob Question about aeration

So the aeration also speeds up the initial fermentation process as well? Can anyone say whether or not this adds or reduces time in fermentation or is it just a "more productive" fermentation? All great info so far! And @squirrelly - are you saying that inducing O2 into the wort helps...

    Noob Question about aeration

Good to know, I am definately sterilizing equipment, but not even close to replicating batches at this point. I sure hope experience and knowledge will get me there though, I am a quick learner thankfully, but still on kits and just learning the basics mostly....

    Crockpot BBQ with pickles?

I would love to hear how this turns out, I've heard of a lot of things in BBQ recipes but thats a new one. I've also canned pickles, that being said, that sounds like tons a vinegar and very little sugar, if it tastes sour I would sweeten it with some brown sugar and even a little worcester...

    Noob Question about aeration

Thank you!! This helps me understand it a little better, this wasn't part of my first 2 kits but you learn as you go right!

    Noob Question about aeration

Ok, so I am going to be doing my 3rd extract kit (hopefully in the next week as soon as my Weizenbier is ready to go in the 2nd) --- My first 2 kits were Brewers Best since that was all I could get locally same day, but I picked up my first kit from Northern Brewer (A Bavarian Hefeweizen) with...

    New from Minnesota.

Sorry should have added something helpful ;) I bought my first 2 kits from Nitro Brewery in St Cloud and equipment etc from Bakers hobby, both great to get started. I made my first drive yesterday to Minneapolis to go to Northern Brewer and will likely go back to check out Midwest as well
